Hi. I have got the same problem, and it was very easy to solve. Monitor was LG. The problem was not in the system, it was in the monitor. I just clicked the buttons on the monitor, it was on the wrong setting that divides monitor in two colors, so if it happens to you, try checking your monitor settings, mine was set to "demonstration", half was lighter than the other one, just set it to usual or user. Keep in mind the settings are on the monitor itself, not in the windows (buttons on the monitor itself) Good luck.
BenQ 19" monitor GENERIC pnP lcd
displays upper part (a 12 cm wide band) lighter than the down part which is normal
the cursor when in the lighter part becomes ghosty and very white
Listen, for what it is going to cost you to fix the unit, you are better off replacing it and having a new warranty to boot. Simply not cost effective to repair given the cost of a new monitor these days.
You may have a poor connection with your LVDS cable which connects from the internal main board to the screen. This will either need to bre-seated or replaced.
Unfortunately that's the age old problem of matching colors between computers and printers. Your printer is probably not the problem, that's why he couldn't fix it. Even though your monitor is set to default values it doesn't mean that your colors are correct as colors can vary from monitor to monitor and the color temperature is probably too high causing the colors to look lighter than the printout. The picture on the monitor may look good to you, but it's not set right for matching printer colors. Monitors use RGB (Red, Green & Blue colors) colors and printers use CYMK (Cyan, Yellow, Magenta & Black) colors and you have to make them get the results you want. You will have to do some tweaking of your monitor's settings to get it to match the printer output. Below are some links that will help explain things better and maybe help you adjust your monitor.

the solution is to install a 250 ohm resistor between G1 and ground on the socket ,,,but you may change it more or less than 250 ohm . it well be lighter and you you can adjusted normally from controll panel
You can RESET the monitor setting externally by clicking adjustment menu button goto RESET press ok. If contrast and birghtness not set properly light will not be properly visible
