Hi, if the tubes fade from full brilliance to black over a few seconds, the possible sounds like dry joints in the CRT heater circuits. possibly caused by dry joints (bad solder joints). Most repairs involving rear projection TV's can be a pig (mainly relating to access to work on the circuit boards)
Testimonial: "i will change the fluid and check the mainboard to see what can i do, meanwhile, i want to thank you. it is very helpful."
I had the same problem. If you take the front cover off and remove the small door behind it there is a little box with 6 knobs on it. The top ones control the focus and the bottom ones control the voltage for the red green and blue guns. Slowly turn DOWN the blue voltage until the pic is normal. There will be a letter "B: to indicate the blue gun. This worked for me and the TV is as good as new now. Hope that helps.
This is the link I used to fix my problem. The TV would turn on fine looked good but would slowly fade to all blue. With the back off you could see the green and red guns fade out at the same time. This sounds like the same problem you are having. I followed the instructions to a T and the problem is gone. http://www.somelifeblog.com/2007/06/sony...

Or could it be that blue is dominating the entire screen? One may have to check on these
if the fault comes from the CRT's or the Drive Circuits. Just to insure that you will not be buying
components that you do not need. A CRT Analyzer would be the first thing to have,
Most shops do ( before ) I just hope there are still available in your area. these would
at least minimize your troubleshooting , But check on the CRT Board also could be
just a cold solder joints on the CRT Drive, who knows.
