Unfortunately that is the serial number not the model number. The videos in the link might help, but all the parts schematics work on Model Numbers.

I checked the instruction manual available for the Janome 8002D serger through the Janome website:

and did not find a date of printing on the manual (which would give an idea for the year/s the model was manufactured.)

I also found the following information on one of the Janome web pages:

The serial number is not very helpful. You need a model number or name.

The model number may be in the name, ie Janome Dream Quilter. Also, look for a plate, badge, or even a number stamped into the case.

Search the internet for:

Manufacturer + Model + the word "Manual"

...

Go to Yahoo or Google and type the name, model, and serial number and manual. You should get a list and you can copy it and print.

Thats a serial number usually the model number is near. Cant tell with the serial number if you can't find it go to yiur nearest sewing center and they can help you

I have the exact same sewing machine problem! Mine has the same serial number, but no model number. I can't find it ANYWHERE online!
