Look at the back and you may see a small groove in the bezel. This should be located over the winder before pressing the back into position.

In many cases the back is snapped down using a rolling technique (put the back in place and then push against a hard object like a kitchen worktop and as you push, roll the edge round until it snaps into place) but in some cases with particulaly stubborn cases you will need to use a specially designed back press (available on eBay quite cheap).

Watchmakers will usually use professional equipment to get the job done.

I have this kind of watch. How do y’all change the battery

what You Will Need To Change Your Watch Battery :
A Blunt Knife or Small Flat Screwdriver
Substitution Battery (Get this utilizing the bygone one as an example, subtleties in strides beneath)
A Magazine or Newspaper
Changing the Watch Battery
Get going by setting your watch face down on a magazine or paper, the paper will keep the screen from getting scratched while you work on it.
Watches commonly have one of three sorts of covers, covers made sure about with screws, a screw on cover (the entire back cover transforms into place) or a snap on cover. Snap on covers are by a wide margin the most well known covers on current looks as they're by and large less expensive for the maker to deliver, trailed by screw on covers.
You can differentiate by taking a gander at the back front of the watch. Covers made sure about with screws will clearly have various screws around the edge. Screw on covers as a rule have an example of scores (normally 6-8) similarly divided around the external border of the cover which permits an apparatus to get the cover and turn it. Snap on covers have a little cover or lip somewhere near the edge under which a device is utilized to lift the cover off.
This instructional exercise will zero in on snap on covers since these are the most well-known. To eliminate a cover with screws, utilize a little screw driver to eliminate the entirety of the screws and the cover should come free. To eliminate a screw off cover, a since quite a while ago nosed pincers can as a rule be utilized, placed the two hints of the forceps into inverse scores and press the watch down to hold the cover and afterward turn the cover off. With the right procedure, it is additionally very simple to eliminate these covers.
For a snap on cover, you'll first you need to find the lip on the back cover. Presently utilize a little level screwdriver or an unpolished blade and wedge the tip or edge under the cover and push down, as a switch, to gobble it up.
You will presently see a plastic spacer/assurance cover which is utilized to ingest stun and keep the component from moving around inside the case. This cover fits cozily over the instrument and can be pulled off utilizing the tip of a blade, screwdriver or tweezers, being mindful so as not to contact any piece of the system or you may harm it. Get the cover close to the edges and be mindful so as not to break any bit of the component when you lift it up.
The battery should now be plainly obvious. It will be held set up with two metal clasps covering its edges. One of these clasps is important for the instrument cover and is fixed and the other will have the option to move away from the battery with the end goal for it to jump out. Once more, with the tip of a blade or tweezers, pull the clasp away from the battery so it pops free and afterward haul it out of the system. The bolt in the image underneath shows the moving catch.
Take the battery with you to your closest home improvement shop or regularly a **** specialist to get a substitution. Then again compose the number on the highest point of the battery down and they ought to have the option to recognize it from that, for instance 377 and so on The number is normally the greatest number stepped onto the top (level) face of the battery.
When you have a substitution battery, pull the battery cut back again and addition the battery into the instrument. The watch should now tick once more. In the event that it isn't ticking, at that point the battery is either introduced erroneously (potentially topsy turvy) or the instrument is broken. Ensure that you battery is introduced in a similar direction it was before you took it out, regularly with the level side or side with the + on it confronting outwards towards the back cover.
Presently supplant the plastic addition, watch that the space in the supplement lines up with the change screw. Be delicate when supplanting it to guarantee that you don't harm any piece of the component.
At long last you need to supplant the back cover. The cover simply should be situated accurately and afterward fit properly. For certain watches, this should basically be possible by squeezing it in with your thumbs while others will require more power. On the off chance that you can't push it along with your fingers, at that point lie the watch face down on paper, place the level piece of a rubberised spanner arm over the back cover and press down gradually with your body weight until you hear it fly into place. Ensure that the cover is in the right situation prior to applying pressure onto it else it may get twisted or forever harm the lip of the cover.
Reset the time and your watch is prepared currently to wear once more. best bet is really to take it to a jeweler

How do I put the back cover on a Waltham watch?

Try hooking the edge furthest from the winder at first, then work toward the winder.

If that isn't enough... warm the back cover with a hair dryer while you chill the rest of the watch. Serious as anything - the warmed cover will expand JUST SLIGHTLY while the cooled watch will contract JUST SLIGHTLY, maybe enough to snap that cover on. You can cool the watch in a freezer, but if you do... quickly snap the cover on while you hold the watch in the still-open freezer. If you take the watch from the freezer and leave it open at room temperature, it'll get moisture condensate inside. Leave it cold until the cover's on.

It also helps to wear cotton gloves if you use the heat-and-cool approach - then your hands won't appreciably cool the warmed cover or warm the chilled watch.

The watchmakers have a special watch press that squeezes the back into place - it's padded to prevent damage to the crystal, and applies a little extra force to the center of the back to buckle the rim outward just slightly during pressing. Like the opposite of a wheel cover for a car.

Need to replace battery in my Colibri pendant watch. Can't figure out how to open case to change it.

Thank you for contacting FixYa.
  • Place the tip of your pocket knife in the slot on the back of the watch. Pry the back off.

  • Take your tweezers and grasp the metal piece that is hiding the battery.

  • Once that metal piece is out the battery should come out too.

  • Put the new battery in and cover it with the metal piece.

  • Put the back of the watch back on and snap it into place.

  • Best wishes. Jewel

I have a ladies timex indiglo watch that I was able to get the back off and replace the battery but now I can NOT get the back on again. It doesnt seem to have any grooves on it. It seems as if it would...

I have an old Timberland Indiglo watch in which I had the same problem. I folded up a paper towel for padding and I used two sets of pliers, one to hold one side of the watch while I used the other set of pliers to snap the back cover closed. It took two seconds to do.

I took the back off a watch to change the battery now i cant get the back on

mcdevito75 here Look very closely at the back cover for anything that will line up with the case, as an example a little cut out in the cover for the stem (winder) and or any small indent in the cover and case or tab on the cover, line everything up carefully then place the watch face up on a sturdy table, countertop and with the palm of your hand press down evenly, this should snap the cover back on. If Not, see a small watch repair shop in your area as they will use a special pliers to clos the back cover.

Try removing the rubber washer or the black band on the cover then try snapping it back on. I removed the washer and placed it on the back of the watch before I placed the cover on and it just snapped back on.

    Expedition WR50M

I had the same problem. The thing that was most frustrating is that I have a standard tool to remove and install screw in watch backs, but Timex in its infintie wisdom, decided to make this model withta snap-in back.

I tired usinga a set of adjustable locking pliers with rubber claw covers. I tried holding one side with finger and thumb while using the pliers on the other to no avail.

robatbath's answer about jewelers having a special press led me to a solution. I just happened to have (2) 1.25" steel washers with 1/4 inch holes. I placed one on the face and one on the back. This way I could use the locking pliers (with rubber covers on) to press in the center of each side. The back snapped in fine. You can get washers and pliers at any hardware store.

Removing the back to change battery

The plastic wrist band doesn't have to be cut away. You need to dislodge the spring-loaded end of the pin from the hole in the plastic with the blade of a sharp thin knife.

The you proceed to lift one of the 4 snaps to open the cover. The battery is under a white translucent inside cover.

The original battery was Sony SR621SW.

Pay attention to the rubber seal ring when putting the watch back together.
