GE WASHER WON'T GO THROUGH THE DRAIN CYCLE AFTER WASH CYCLE

OUR FRONT LOAD WASHER MODEL# WBB4500G0WW GOES THROUGH THE WASH CYCLE BUT AFTER THAT IT WON'T GO THROUGH THE RINSE AND DRAIN CYCLE. WE UNPLUGGED THE WASHER FOR AT LEAST 20 MINUTES AND PLUGGED IT BACK. WE SET THE DIAL TO THE RINSE CYCLE AND THE RINSE INDICATOR LIGHT STAYS ON AFTER A WHILE AND THEN SHUTS OFF BY ITSELF WITHOUT GOING THROUGH A RINSE CYCLE TO DRAIN THE WATER. PLEASE HELP!

MY BAD, IT'S NOT A FRONT LOADER...IT'S A TOP LOADER.

    JUST FYI!

  • libradude May 20, 2008

I'VE ALSO MANUALLY DRAINED THE TUB FULL OF WATER BEFORE UNPLUGGING THE WASHER. TRIED THE WASHER CYCLE AGAIN, THIS TIME A SMALL LOAD, IT FILLED UP WITH THE AMOUNT OF WATER NEEDED, WENT TRHOUGH THE DELICATE CYCLE, ONCE IT WAS DONE WITH WASH CYCLE, IT WOULDN'T GO THROUGH RINSE AND DRAIN CYCLE ONCE AGAIN. THE CYCLE LIGHT WENT TO THE RINSE CYCLE, BUT WAS ON FOR A MINUTE AND THEN THE ENTIRE MACHINE TURNED OFF WITHOUT EVER RINSING OR DRAINING. PLEASE, ANY SUGGESTIONS AS TO WHAT IS CAUSING THIS MALFUNCTION IS MUCH APPRECIATED.

MY FIANCE AND I CANNOT GO ANOTHER 2 MORE DAYS WITH THIS DILEMMA AND I WON'T PAY $200 TO GET IT FIXED. ON A VERY TIGHT BUDGET AND LIMITED INCOME.

    THANKS!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Water won't drain on the wash or rinse cycle

Hi.

If the machine does not drain the parts to be tested are rain system, motor and control board must also be tested. If machine is a top loader testing will start from lid switch. The first action will consist in checking the drain hose at the back and checking the drain filter accessible from lower front side of your GE WSXH208A.

Here a page about drain and spin problems.

If you need parts or schematics see this tip explaining how to find parts and diagrams for most appliances: Where do I find parts and diagrams for my appliance?

Door unlocks and won't spin or drain

it sounds like a clogged filter
Please remove the filter on the side of the machine or the front.
Make sure you have towels handy.
Clear the filter out. If your pump cant empty the machine out you will get these problems
Make sure waterline is not obstructed

GE Model WBSE2090A2WW - shut off intermittenly

Does the machine drain on its own or do you drain it manually? The drain pump may be jammed or seized. Try giving the door a light bang with your hand on the handle. The door interlock could be faulty. If the machine starts up after you hit it with your hand on the door handle, the interlock is faulty. Good Luck!!
