Connect your laptop to an external monitor and switch to monitor. If the external monitor shows the desktop, then the complaint is in the lcd/led display unit means the screen. Replace the screen. If the external monitor also shows the complaint, then it is normally due the mch(media controller hub) . It comes as separate card unit in some models and onboard for some other models.Only an experienced technician can solve that issue. In some rare cases it is due to a corrupted BIOS. Buy a new computer from the sound of it, or take it to a repairer, if the screen is white instantly after power on, there is noting that you can do yourself.

The white screen you are getting is it just right after turning on the computer? If yes it means that you were not able to see the Dell logo correct?

Try connecting an external monitor thru VGA. While monitor and laptop is on with white screen please do this. Hold down Fn key then press F8 at the same time. This will toggle the display from the laptop to external monitor. If laptop displays to external monitor means that laptop LCD needs to be replaced.

If you do not have an external monitor try this.
While laptop is OFF. Do this. Hold down the D key then press power button at the same time.
Check if the laptop will display colors the whole screen. If you still see white screen then LCD needs replacement.

LCD mean LCD panel or the whole screen together with LCD cable and Inverter.

I know this is an old post, but the LED code for CAPS lock on, F4 flashing, F5 on means memory issue. I had this issue, reseated the memory, and the issue was resolved.

Since your video is ok on the external monitor,this could be a problem with the cable that runs from the laptop up through the hinge to the screen. I would definitely adivse you to have a professional check this out. If the laptop screen is defective, it is extrremely expensive to replace. Get more than one quote for the work.

Check that your monitor is connected properly and tightly to the computer. If it is, then the monitor may be bad. Borrow a friend's monitor and try to see if it works, if someone else's monitor works, then replace your monitor.

I think along the lines like you. $500 dollars is a good chuck of money and alternatives would be my first choice. My suggestion is to check both ends of the cable harness the plugs into the screen and to the mother board. Make sure both ends are inserted properly.

Next thing is to test - power up the laptop and see if that made a difference. If not, it may be the screen or the motherboard. So test further by pluging in an external monitor to check to see you get a good picture/image. If so, then that means you need to replace the laptop screen. If you dont get a good picture/image, than that means your motherboard needs replacing.

Probably defect at the logic board of LCD.

Sounds like the AD section of the board may be junk. I did the same thing - bought the board from lcdrepair.com.

I submitted an RMA request to get a replacement. The process was difficult due to the pdf form they make you fill out. Lots of errors and no good way to submit it, since it wants to use outlook, but the pdf isn't configured properly to do so. Seems fishy, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt for now. We'll see.
