Canon remote RC-1

I just bought a Canon remote RC-1 for my Rebel EOS XTi and pointed it to the camera, but nothing happened> I checked the batteries and they test fine. I changed to different settings, but nothing. Nowhere on my camera manuel can I find a set up info. Did I miss something or my remote is out of order. Thanks for your help. J-C

The infrared port on the camera is on the front, in the handgrip area. Have you pointed the RC-1 towards the front of the camera, with the camera turned on and ready to shoot?

I have a Canon Rebel XTI and it was working fine until one day it just decided not to turn back on. Tried charging both batteries multiple times and upon putting them in, it still will not turn on. Am I...

Sorry to hear about this. I have a similar camera and have been racking my brain about this...

My only thought...are you using the same battery charger? Perhaps the battery charger is to blame. You may be out of battery on both batteries. When you install the battery, does ANYTHING happen? Does it say, LOW Battery or CHANGE the battery? Or is it totally black? If nothing happens at all, you should probably contact Canon directly. Or purchase a new charger and see if that fixes the problem.

Canon EOS rebel XTi won't turn on. Changed batteries several times still nothing

Mcm,
Trying taking a Q-tip with some alcohol and cleaning the contacts inside the battery chamber. Also, you can take it to your local camera store and ask them to try it with one of their batteries to rule out if yours is dead.

Thank you.

My canon rebel xti will not turn on. I have replaced all the batteries, and still nothing starts up.

There could be dust or other foreign objects in the battery slot, you might need to clean it out. If not, I would advise that you may need a replacement battery
