Hi, I need help on resetting password on panasonic kx-t7731. Person who used this phone before set the password and left w/o letting me know. Please let me know if there is any way to access voicemail system and reset the password. Also I do not know how to access voicemail 999. Please help me.

The KX-T7731 is just the phone. The auto attendant is controlled by the PBX. To change the message, please consult the manual for the PBX. If you don't have that manual, please reply to this post and specify the model of your PBX.

You can use the configuration software to read off the password.

Manual to what? A 7731 is a Panasonic phone that connects to a Key Service Unit. If your KSU happens to be a TA-824 delivered in the U.S., it has a DISA card built in and the instructions are probably in the OM. There, you record a set of instructions that let the system answer and route the caller by digits dialed. If you're using a different KSU, then you may have the Auto Attendant on a Panasonic Voice Mail system do the messages and routing. That set of instructions will be in the Voice Mail installation guide.

There are two passwords you could be asking about, the electronic station lock, or a voice mail password. Each has a different login procedure and is based on the hardware you have, not the phone type.

Since this is an open forum, it is not possible to give specific details about equipment you didn't mention, but if you look around your documentation, you'll find the instructions for administering both the phone system and voice mail. One is reset from the attendant station, and one from mailbox 999.

What's answering the calls, is it the Panasonic system or the central office? When you figure that out, and it's locally, then post back with the model number of your phone sytsem cabinet and whether you dial 107 or 115 ot get into voice mail, or the message is left in the central office.

It can be reset from the System Administrator's mailbox (999). If you don't have that password, then you need to get it from the installer or someone who has it. That mailbox can go into the system and reset all user passwords to either a default, or empty.

If it's a Panasonic brand VM, you log in as administrator to mailbox 999. Option 6 1 3 allows you to reset a mailbox password.

Go back to your vendor and get the password for mailbox 999 and the instructions to log into it.

The mailbox exists or it wouldn't ask for a password (they're assigned by default), so you need to go to mailbox 999 and chose option 6 1 3 which is mailbox administration reset password. That will clear the password and you can log into the voice mail automatically from the extension by dialing the voice mail access code.
