My lawn mower cranks fine and runs fine, however, the wheels will not self-propel, anymore. I'm not sure how old the mower is, as I purchased it used, but it worked properly for the first four or five months that I've had it. Any recommendations?

First of all clean all the gunk from all the drive wheel areas and where the drive belt operates as well as the pulleys Check the belt as it could be broken or stretched. Maybe should replace the belt and lubricate all the working areas as well as wheels. Check the shear pin as well.

SOURCE: Honda lawn mower, self propelled mechanism not working

check the mechanism first before changing the gearbox its possible that the cable might jump out from the pulley or the cable is worn out or its possible that the gear on the tire is worn out to if not then that would be the time for you to change the gear box it would be hard to change it if you don't have the right tools to work on it if you know how everything work its not that hard to replace it just make sure were everything goes memorize the parts before disassembling cause that would be you guide to reassemble it...goodluck

SOURCE: I can crank my murray gas lawn mower 6.5 quantum

Sounds like you will need to clean your carburetor.
Sometimes you can get by with priming it a few times, and letting it
run a few times like that and it will flush the gunk out of the jets,
but most of the time you will need to rebuild the carburetor.
If the mower is over a couple years old, then I also recommend that you
buy and install a new carburetor repair kit, because the diaphragm will
get hard and that will cause it to be hard to crank.
When you clean your carburetor and remove the jet screws, count the
number of turns it takes to seat the jets from their original position.
That way when you go to put the jets back in, you know how many turns
they were in/out.
Please rate me, Thanks
Good Luck, I hope this helped

Maybe the engine is running with the fuel from the primer bulb (about few seconds), the carburator is not working and need to be removed checked and cleaned, the most common fail is a jet clogged.

It's a gas mower with an electric start (and a battery Vince!?) The movers also lost the charging adaptor with your manual (it plugs into a jack right next to the key switch). You can buy a replacement online or at Sears, etc. for ~$10. Plug it in early in spring for a couple days and it should hold a charge most of the summer.
Cheers.

Why won't my 22 in. Kohler Low Wheel Variable Speed Self-Propelled Gas Lawn Mower self propel anymore?

i would guess that the belt is'nt tight enough when engaged. when you press the drive bar on the handle it should make the belt really tight if not it will need replaced. sometimes the gears in the wheels will mess up. there are videos on you tube that describe that and also the belt.

My lawn mower starts and cuts fine, but it will no longer self propel even though the wheels actually turn when I lift the rear wheels off the ground.

Have you checked the belt? There is a belt that runs from the shaft to the transmission that gets worn and streched out. It will spin the tires, but not under a load. I'm sure thats the problem! The cover is usually located under the deck.

Can't push my self propelled lawn mower!

Remove the drive wheels and have a look at the gear teeth in them. If even slightly worn, they need replacing. If you run the mower with the wheels off, that end elevated with a block, see if the axle turns when you engage the drive. If it does, your transmission is fine. Wheels are a lot easier to change than a tranny.

Self Propelled mower quit self propelling

you probaly have a broken gear or engagment lever. the part the cable goes through before the cable goes thru the deck. you also could have sheared a pin or the plastic gear that drives it.

SELF PROPELL NOT WORKING GOOD

Have you checked the belt that drives the wheel? This is more than likely the problem. It may be broken.
