No display after powering on the machine. The only light on is the audio and the power. There is a fan sound... i have tried removing and replacing the battery and still have the same problem. It happened after closing my lid and it went into standby/hybernate mode.

As there is no display but the power leds are glowing on the notebook, we cannot perform any troubleshooting steps otherthan Power drain.
Here are is the Power drain procedure:
Try doing power drain by taking out the battery & keep holding down the power button for complete one minute to drain out the power from the computer components. Restart the computer after putting the battery in.
Try restarting the computer only with the AC power, without the battery & vice-versa.
That should resolve the issue. If the issue persists, then you need to contact HP if your notebook is underwarranty. if there is not warranty, you have to contact service center.
Note: There is difference between removing/replacing the battery and power drain. Power drain should resolve the issue.
