Needs descaling, I don't have the manual, what is the procedure??

Hi Auto descale: To automatically descale your machine, press the scoop or menu button and hold it down until you enter the menu. Use the arrows on the to scroll up until you come to "Descale". Press enter and the machine will enter the mode to descale your machine. The process takes about 45 minutes. You don't have to do a thing except mix a full water tank with descaling solution and have a container under the steam wand when your start. If you have a cappuccinonatori on your machine you will need two containers. To start the descaling process simply turn the steam knob. When the process is over your machine will say "Descale finished". Remove your water tank and rinse it out. Refill it with fresh water. Replace on the machine and close the open the steam knob again. Let it quit on its own. Refill tank again and prime the machine and your ready. Exit "Descale mode and scroll down to "Reset descale", press the enter button and chose "Yes", then exit and your ready for the next time.

Need to replace burner tubes on a Ducane grill. How do you do this? How do you get the old one off? I don't have a manual anymore.

First call Weber to receive the Warrenty burners for free. Have model and serial numbers ready. They can be found on one of the doors. Here is what I did for my Ducane model 30400042.

Remove the grates and burner heat deflectors. There are 4 screws on the knob panel, 2 on the left and 2 on the right. Remove the screws and pull back about a inch or two. I found it helpful to open all the doors a bit to rest the panel on them. The burners should remove easily once this is done. Replace the burner tubes and be sure tubes have holes facing up on the one side for correct heat distribution. When placing the knob panel back on, make sure that burner tubes go onto the gas control knob correctly. Replace screws on the knob panel.

Change comming in february??

This really depends on your cable provider. Some like the one in my hometown of Abilene, Texas SuddenLink will take care of the transition for all its customers. Of course we are talking about every tv except the old fashion rotary knob ones. Call you cable provider. I know that yours is ready through cable connections. Over the air is questionable.

Harman kardon drive and play, does not load ipod screen just says please wait and has the numbers 02,1 in the bottom left corner

The error code mentioned above usually denotes a communication error a between the Drive + Play’s display and the commander knob. The first thing to check is that the commander knob is fully connected to the Drive + Play’s electronics enclosure. It might seem very tight, so giving the connector a twist while pushing it in can help ensure there is a complete connection. If you’ve confirmed the correct connection of the commander knob to the enclosure, then check to make sure that the commander knob cable isn’t pinched. Please refer to page 8 of your owner’s manual to confirm that you’ve routed your cable correctly. Then try a reset of the Drive + Play by disconnecting power to the brain, disconnecting your iPod, and disconnecting the display. Reconnect them in the following order: display, power, iPod. If you’re still having problems please consult with your dealer/installer or email us at [email protected].

Remote no longer works for volume control

Guys, I might have accidentally found the problem because the fix worked for me :). I have the RX-V995 and for the last 2+years or so, I had resorted to getting up and using the knob manually for volume control. System will show 'voluem up/down' in the display, but the knob didn't rotate. Same problem as yours.

I was getting ready to buy the service manual, find the knob motor which I thought was the main culprict and replace with a new one.

So I took out the top cover (just a few screws), the front face-plate (again just a few screws. The inner details were all visible. The volume knob circuit board was vertically placed. They were all covered in a good layer of dust. I got my Dyson vacuum cleaner and gently and carefully tried to **** up all the dust that had settled down. With soft front brushes, I agitated the dust I couldn't reach with dyson wand direclty, once dust were loose, dyson did a great job even with picking up those last dust pieces.

I couldn't succeed in taking apart the volume knob circuit board, as I was still awaiting for the service manual. I put all the covers back on and guess what? I used my remote and the knob was moving again. Responding very well, the knob made the full turn, when I was on the remote. It has been working perfectly for the last few days now.

I think I know what was happening. Teh top of the RX-V (and I am sure many Yamaha receivers) are very porous to allow for good heat dissipation. Over time, this allows a large amount of dust to collect on top of the parts. Most parts are electronic (not mechanical) and hence don't get affected by the dust. But the few mechanical parts might have adverse affect if dust settles down in between the rotating mechanisms.
My volume knob had stopped responding to remote command, very slowly. Initially it worked a little, missed a little, then it missed a lot and eventually it didn't rotate. That proves the theory to some extent that if the motor had completely failed, it would stop working from the get-go, not intermittently. Dust build-up provided intermittent contact between the parts and hence the response was intermittent.

The dyson vacuum did a great job in pulling out those fine dust from such parts and amazingly, things are looking very good at present. Honestly, I hadn't the slightest hope that vacuuming would fix the problem. I had vacuumed to make it easy for me to work on the parts :).

So, it doesn't hurt at all to just give it a try. Do open the covers so that you can reach closer to the real boards and parts.

Good luck and let us know!!!
cheers
