My lawn mower starts up but seems like it has no power to rotate the blade. Added oil, replaced air filter and the spark plug but still has no output power.

Is the choke stuck on? That could do it. Does it rev high enough ? May need adjusting. You say you added oil was it low enough you have almost seized the engine. Just a thought

If it only runs for a few seconds after starting, the problem could be the main jet of the carburetor which is the brass bolt that holds the lower carb bowl on the carburetor. Remove it, inspect it and clean it...paying real close attention to the area on the bolt where there are no threads as there are very small holes there that have to be clear for the carb to get a continually good gas flow.

Toro ride on wont start

Battery required? Charge battery or replace. Replace air filter and spark plug. Dump out old oil and replace with 30w oil. Electric start may have a fuse blown. Dump out old gas fill with new with Stabile always added to gas. Try spraying starter spray in carb at air cleaner with filter removed. All mowers have a low oil sensor to prevent starting on low oil. Remove bowl from carb, should be full of gas. Pinch off fuel line with pliers or turn fuel valve off. Check float should be hanging down allowing fuel flow. Float up stops fuel flow.

How to fix a 3.5 lawn mower?

HELLO,
You can fix these yourself, all you have to do is to follow the instructions below,
1 Remove the spark plug lead from the spark plug and move away from cylinder head. Always do this before attempting any repairs to a lawnmower.
2 If your lawnmower is a "four stroke" mower (separate gasoline and oil), tip the mower so that the spark plug is pointing skyward. Never tip it on its side with the spark plug to the ground.
3 If your lawnmower is "2 stroke" (oil and gasoline mixed) turn off fuel tap. You can tip a two stroke mower any way that is suitable to you.
4 To change a blade, or blade disc, it is often easier to remove the spark plug and feed a length of string into the cylinder head to 'lock' the piston while trying to un-do the blade bolt(s).
5 Check the motor's "air filter" while doing this sort of maintenance as a dirty or clogged air filter will affect engine performance and increase fuel consumption of your mower. Symptoms of a clogged air filter include inability to start, starting and quickly stopping after several sputters, or a weak idle. You may also see oily or smoky exhaust.
6 If your mower is a "four stroke" model, change the oil at least once a year. When it is tipped over with the spark plug in the air, is a good time to remove the "oil fill" plug and drain oil into an old ice-cream container for recycling.

I hope this will help to solve the problem.....

I have to prime the toro mower every time I empty the bag to get it to start?

  1. what is the model, manufacturer and year of mower?
  2. has any maintenance been performed on this mower?
  3. if no, try replacing the spark plug and air filter (it's possible the spark plug could be fouled and/or the air filter is clogged) be sure to follow the manufacturers recommendations for oil, gas, filters and plugs.
routine maintenance involves:
  1. sharpen/replace blade
  2. oil change
  3. replace air filter
  4. replace spark plug
  5. new gas

Yard Machines 22 inch mower, I dumped it on its top over the weekend, bent the blade, replaced it, now wont start, did leak oil out of the air filter, cleaned it out real well still wont start

if you bent the blade most likely you bent the crankshaft too.
Remove the spark plug and pull the rope and remove excess oil from the spark plug hole
check the spark plug for spark if you have none then a flywheel key is sheered a more in depth fix.
If you get it started you may notice a whole lota vibration due to a bent crank shaft or maybe not?

LAWN BOY MOWER WILL NOT START WHEN HOT. WHY? STARTS FINE WHEN FIRST STARTED.

Hello PANDJ4952, Check your oil level first. If low or a dark color it needs changing. I suggest you change spark plug and air filter too. With the engine cold clean the fins around the spark plug location of caked up mud or clogs of grass including under the mower where the blade rotates. Please let me know of the results.
