Iriver e100 doesn't communicate properly

Hi,

I downloaded a few songs to my brand new E100 and all of a sudden it stopped communicating properly to my computer. When I connected it and selected "power and data" it did not go to its usual "usb connection" screen, but to its usual "play" screen. The computer also could not see it as another disk as it used to.

This could be related to another problem that involves when I start up the iriver plus programme, it does its software verification and stops on that screen, but won't open the programme.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks

    I have the same problem: my pc doesn't see E100 as usb device and the player shows only the start screen with the brand "iriver"

    When connecting iriver E100 to PC via USB it won't connect. Message "USB Device Not recognized. One of the USB Devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it"

    This mornin the e100 frose during start up
    I had to reset it and it started just fine but now doesnt get recognized anymore by my pc. I have reisntalled all the software without result.

    You guys found an answer to this "freeze" problem ? I have the same
    problem. It freezes on the iRiver logo. Even using the reset button
    doesn't help.

    i upgraded it and now it only shows the logo and it's not recognised by my pc.how do i reboot it,considering that reset doesn't help?

    My Iriver E100 is starting to screw up just like my iriver plus 3 doesn't work anymore
    iriver plus 3 says "verifying version" and then doesn't even open!
    and when i plug my iriver in it only comes up with 2 options
    1. power only and 2. power and play!
    so now i can't even put new music into my computer.
    My iriver plus 3 froze on me and wouldn't open again when i was trying to put all new music in!
    so i don't know what happend!!
    and now i'm really shitty!

    I accidentally deleted all the things off my E100, before this it was not recognizing it but it would still show all the music in Iriver and i was able to put video's and music on it, but now it has nothing on it, nothing comes up at all!

    Somebody please help me :(

    I found that if you have a miniSD card inserted, take it out and then put it back in after it's connected. That might stop it freezing.

    But I have the same problem with connecting, the computer doesn't recognize it. Doesn't make a difference which USB port I connect it to. The only thing that seems to temporarily fix it is when I connect it to the other computer we have and then connect it back to this one, which has the songs I wish to put on it. However, if I come to do it again the problem occurs also.

    I was wondering if there was another solution though?

    It's just the same: in XP i connect my Iriver E100, it goes "USB Connected" for a while, and later it goes to the menu. My XP doesn't recognise the device...

    IRIVER E 100 NOT ECOGNIZED BY PC . WHEN CONNECTED TO PC THERE IS ONLY TWO OPTIONS INSTEAD OF THREE WHICH ARE :

    POWER ONLY, POWER AND PLAY AND NO POWER AND DATA WHICH MEANS THAT THERE IS NO POSSIBILITY TO TRANSFER MUSIC, PODCAST AND SO ON FROM YOUR PC...I RETURNED IT TO THE STORE, CAME BACK AND STILL DOES THE SAME.BAD...

    I have the same problem in both XP x64 and x86. Vista works fine, but in XP i get "usb device not recognised"...

Umm.. this is what i did to solve this problem. i hooked it in the back usb port then put the iriver disk in then went to start control panel printers and other hardware the on the left side add hardware the i found it on the list and instaled after that you have to use windows meda player to add music and it works just fine .

I got it to work by plugging it into a vista machine, then back into my XP. not sure why it worked, but it did. however after turning the computer off and on again, the problem returned. but it does work! ive done it a few times now.

Guys, try connecting your devices in rear USB hub ! NOT in FRONT !!!

I had the same trouble and I got it to work by canging the connection type to MTP and then back to MSC

I also switched the connection type and allowed it to format when it asked. I had previously transferred my data onto my computer. Once I switched the connection type for the usb, iriver 3 plus recognized my device and the taskbar in vista showed an icon allowing me to properly disconnect the device. Also, make sure your device is listed properly in the iriver 3 plus software settings/options. Hopefully, this is a permanent fix.

You're computer should show you're device as a removable disk, just copy and paste songs from you're computer onto it.

  1. Insert the installation CD into your PC to display the installation process screen.
  2. Select iriver plus 3 and click the Install button.
  3. Complete the installation process by following the on-screen instructions.
  4. Turn on the iRiver E100, and then plug it in to the computer using the USB cable.
  5. Open iRiver Plus 3.
  6. Select the desired files / folders in your PC and drag & drop Music, pictures, etc. to the drive which appears as the product.

Do not have iriver cd to update the firmware and convert the audio and mvi

Hello,

To the iRiver support site:
http://www.iriver.com/flash/index.asp?code=0302

In the top page right corner enter "E100" and all support for the E100 player shows up.
Click on the required New Firmware e.g. latest version 1.22 to get more information ( sep 25, 2009 ).
Next click
"-. Customers who purchase E100 can upgrade their players either
by Firmware updater or Iriver plus3".

A page shows up for how to download and install the firmware.
Right click the firmware updater
and select "save target as...", for a place to save the installer.


Getting Iriver plus 3:
In the left column of the support page select Plus 3. Next left click Download iriver PLUS3 and save the execute file iplus3.exe .

How do you download music onto your iriver e100 without the disc?

just connect your player to your pc/laptop....go to my computer...it will show your player as an external hard disk...just open it and copy paste songs from the pc to the player...should work :)

Free download for iriver E100 vedio player installation software

Hi,
Here's the iRiver Plus 3 software:

It's compatible with XP and below. I haven't come across a Vista driver for it yet, but you might be able to right click on it and hit Properties and select XP compatibility in Vista, I don't know if it'll work though.

The cover for the USB on my iRiver E100 wont close...

Contact the maker of the product or return it to the store if its still under warranty you maybe able to exchange it for a new one.

Iriver e100 driver

Go to the iRiver website: http://iriverinc.com/
Go to the menu "Support" located on top of the page and select the product for which you need drivers.

Downloading videos onto the iriver E100

Software / Media Transfer The E100 comes packaged with a disc containing iriver plus 3 media player, firmware updater, video converter, and Windows Media Player 11. If you have owned an iriver player, you are familiar with this software with the included iriver media player. This is a standard media player much like any other but has a few features catering to the iriver family of players, such as a firmware updater, ebook txt manager, and video converter. This media player is a bit different from Windows Media Player but still is straightforward and easy to use. If you don’t care for iriver’s media player you can always use any other MTP based media player to manage playlists and load your E100 since also included on the disc is a video converter and firmware updating utility.
If you don’t like to use media players to transfer the E100 will allow you to select either MTP or MSC transfer mode. This means it is drag and drop and also compatible with any OS. Drag and drop will work fine in MTP mode as well, but only if you are using Windows XP SP2 or Vista.
