I need a manual for the 966 model that wont cost me my arm. I havent sewed in years and I just inhereted the machine so I thought i give it a try. Where can I get a free manual from?

I'm not familiar with your model sewing machine, but if it's been setting for quite some time, chances are it is frozen. If you have your manual, see if there are any oiling instructions and follow those using a Good Quality sewing machine oil (not the old brown stuff you probably current have in your sewing kit--it's old and should be thrown out). Sounds like maybe any oil it had has dried up and turned to glue. If so, you need to get that loosened up before the motor can have enough power to move things. If your machine is mechanical (not computerized), you can probably heat up the internal mechanisms with a hand-held hair dryer.
The problem is either in the foot control or there is a short in your wiring. You can replace the foot control and hope that's where the problem is or Take it to a technician to be sure..The foot control will probably cost around $30-$50. sewman7

i havent tryed sewing machines befor but i would take it apart and se wat was casing it to get stuck.also try gettin the skematics for that make and model of sewing machine if nothing else it will atleast give you a better understanding of how the machine works and may help you solve the problem.
