I have also received the "80022D11" error. The problem is I don't have any way to connect my PS3 to the internet. I'm active duty military and currently deployed. we're not allowed to hook up video game systems to the network here, so deleting my my old profile, creating a new one and re-syncing my trophies with the new one is impossible. My PS3 was running on 3.40 software when this happened. I was able to download the 3.41 update (took 9 hours cause the network here is outrageously slow here) hoping that it would magically fix it but it didn't. Is there anyway that this can be fixed without having to hook my PS3 up to the internet? Is it possible to download my trophy data from the PS3 website and reinstall/re-sync it via thumb drive? Oh yes, this issue started like I assume most people has. Turned on my PS3 one day and it had reset itself. Also, my PS3 hadn't been connected to the internet for at least a month when this happened.

This error only happens with games that collect trophies. Sony released a fix for this very problem in a firmware update V2.6 earlier this year.

The latest firmware is now V3.10 and hopefully this will resolve the issue for you.The easiest method is to download the update right on your PlayStation 3.

In the Settings menu, right at the top, is System Update. Select this and when asked tell it to Update Via Internet. It will then check for any updates. If it finds one the download will begin. The average size of these updates will be in the range of 100 MB so it may be an idea to do something else for a few minutes while it downloads.

Once the download is finished it will ask you to hit X on the controller to start the install. The system will restart and ask you to connect the controller with the USB cable and hit the PS button. The screen that shows up should say Firmware Update with the version number and at the bottom you will see X to start the install. Hit X and you see a software agreement- hit right on the D-Pad until you get to "agree or do not agree". Select agree to start the install. Again, this will take a few minutes. When it is done you will hit X to restart the system. A quick reboot and you are done.

Hopefully this will help solve your problem:
1. Press and hold down the power button located at the front of the PS3 console, until you hear a first beep, then eventually a second – before the console shuts down, then let go of the button;
2. Now press and hold the button again until you hear a first beep, then a second beep then eventually a quick double-beep, then let go of the button;
3. The TV screen should now display a six option menu, where you can select what’s required, i.e. `Restart System`, `Restore System` etc. `Reset System` should only be used after other attempts with the other options, as your game saved data may be lost. If you play Modern Warfare 2 online, then this won’t be affected as your data is saved on the Sony Server.
4. During any of the above actions, your best having your handset controller connected to the PS3 via the USB cord, which includes pressing the `P` button when required (located between `Start` and `Select`).
These actions should help solve `freeze` problems and others such as update errors etc – which restrict you starting up or playing your console.

Version v2.60 for the Playstation 3 has the only real fix for this issue. If you don't update to the latest version, or at least v2.60 you will keep getting this with multiple games, so you should update as soon as you can.

There are two ways to do this:

Update via internet connection:
First, go to "settings," then "system settings." There should be an option that says "update via internet." Select that, then leave the settings menus. Your PS3 will now automatically update the next time it is connected to the Playstation Network.

If there is something preventing you from connecting your PS3 to the internet, then you can use the following method:

First, insert a flash drive into your computer that has at least 168 megabytes of space on it. In your web browser go to http://us.playstation.com/support/systemupdates/ps3/ and click the big red "download now" button. This will bring you to a new page. Follow the instruction given on the page exactly or the update will not work.
