Hi!
try to inspect the mechanical lock! or maybe you have some debris or
some solid matter not part of your handycam, inside the
mechanical cassette that why your door not open.
Sony Handycam CCD-TRV58 Hi-8 Analog Camcorder 1. Per the manual on esupport.sony.com - if the power is disconnected door won't open, and if the battery is the dead the door won't open. Plug it in and hopefully you can get the tape out.
1. Open the tape cover fully until it clicks open. 2. Turn the camcorder on to "VCR Mode." 3. With the cover still open and the camera in "VCR mode," take out the battery. 4. Put the battery back in--out should pop your tape.
While I do not have specific knowledge of your camera the DVD door should have a small hole in which you insert a small object - a paper clip works, and push gently. This is the norm on CD/DVD drives and releases an internal catch. Good luck.
This sounds like the door latch is broke or stuck it may have to be sent in for repair...go to www.sony.com customer service and they will take good care of you!
