Sound icon doesn't show up on bottom toolbar - Computers & Internet

  • Anonymous Sep 19, 2010

    Hi!

Let me ask you a couple of clarifying questions so that we may assist you better.

    - What operating system are you using?
    - Was the sound icon previously visible, and if so, have there been any recent changes made to the computer (ie. formatted hard drive, installed new sound card, etc...)?

Right click on any blank part of your taskbar, then left click on Properties, a windows titled "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" will open : click on the "Notification Area" tab, then, under Syatem Icons, put a check mark on "Volume", then click on "Apply", click on "OK" and the "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" window will close and you will have the Volume (Sound) icon in the Notification Area of the Taskbar.

Blank screen

This sounds like corrupted Windows and will require a software reload, however you might try this to make things easier in the mean time... (written for XP)
Right click in the taskbar (usually at the bottom of the screen). If 'Lock the Taskbar' is checked, click it to uncheck. Next, click 'toolbars' and 'Desktop'. This should put a new toolbar in your taskbar called Desktop. You should be able to push this all the way to the right. Now when you want to access the desktop Icons, they will be available at the double arrows on the right of the word Desktop. I keep mine this way all the time so I can access stuff on the desktop even when it is covered with open windows.

No icons or tool bar on desktop at startup

In your desktop, Right click your mouse and properties will show and look for show desktop option. And then move your mouse to the bottom of your computer screen, if toolbar will show, then your toolbar is set to automatic hide. Change the settings in your Taskbar and Start Menu Properties and change there the settings, uncheck the auto hide task bar.

I have lost the volume control icon from the desktop toolbar and want to restore it

To display the volume icon in the taskbar notification area, you must select the "Place volume icon in the taskbar" check box in Control Panel Sounds and Audio Devices applet.

Word 2003 - Everytime I press enter to go to the next line while using Word 2003, it yields this "backward P symbol" (I know it indicate that you have press enter- but it is irritable and distract me when...

Make sure your Standard toolbar is showing: Click View menu, toolbars then standard should have a check next to it. If it doesn't click on it. The standard toolbar has the new, open, save, print and other command icons.

Towards the end of this toolbar, it should have this backwards P, or Pi. If selected, it will show within a square, then click on it and should remove the "Carriage return symbols".

If you don't see it in the toolbar, at the end of the toolbar, will be another symbol like 2 small black arrows pointing to the right and both above another arrow pointing down. Click this to show icons that are not showing in the toolbar. There you should find it.
