I have been running the same Dynamode router for 12 months or more, 6 months ago Virgin Media switched my service off and eventually the technical dept rang me back after the help desk could not help me with the problem and told me that I would have to upgrade the firmware which I did after being emailed a new firmware from Dynamode.

At the end of May 2008 Virgin Media once again switched off the service and said they would not reconnect me until I connect direct to the computer. This I could not do as my computers are remote from the Virgin Modem so I connected a Lynksys Router.

I purchased my Dynamode Router from Virgin Media which had a five star rating, but the helpdesk guy said they do not support Dynamode, but they still sell the same Router in the Virgin Media Website Shop.

I have emailed Dynamode about the problem twice, but it does not seem that they want to know as it is nearly two weeks and no reply.

10 mins set up they say...Its all set uo except (2 weeks later and one new modem later from virgin) and it will not connect to certain sites eg facebook, the bank or online shopping-with or without a firewall. Virgin say they dont suppport 3rd party media but I bought it from them. Infuriating! Anybody know a good place to find the settings that I need to change! (accessories)..its going in the bin soon if I have to spend hours on the phone to dynamode. a user manual that explains the settings or a website would be useful. Anyone find one? Been searching for hours!

Cable modems and routers must be turned on in a specific way. First, unplug both the router and modem. Next, plug the ethernet cable from the modem, into the cable router, and unplug the cable from the modem to the computer. Next, turn on the modem, and wait for all of the lights to stay static (usually there's 4 lights, the main one we're interested in, is the status light). Next, plug in and turn on your router. You should now be able to access the router and configure it for your internet connection.

Well OK, the sequencial activation works for wired connection. But how about wireless? I have Dynamode R-ADSL-C4W-G1. I can get my laptop conected to Internet if I switch the modem on first and than plug ethernet cable to laptop from router and switch it on. It doesn't work if I switch the router on without laptop plugged in. It also doesn't want to work wit wi-fi.

Is connecting Virgin b. by wi-fi without THEIR OWN equippment at all possible??? It's the second router I'm trying and was thinking about trying with Link-Sys. Thoise ones have never failed me before, buit somehow I can't fany any for sale in UK.

Sonos wont work with Dynamode R-ADSL-C4-W-G1

You have your Sonos bridge hardwired into your Dynamode correct? Your bridge needs to be physically plugged into your router at all times, it creates the SonosNet network that your Sonos players operate on.

How do I secure my Dynamode BR 6004 WG1 Iam a

To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, you need to at least configure the wireless router with encryption, and the SSID, and change the router's default login password.
Please follow these instructions :-

To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router’s wireless settings configured and also needs the wireless cards in all the laptops and or computers to be configured with the router’s wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router.

To set-up and secure the wireless router from unauthorized access, follow these steps: -
1. Connect the wireless router to your computer with a LAN cable.
2. Start your browser and enter the router's configuration URL IP address.
3. Enter the router setup, login and password
4. Change the admin password
5. Go to the wireless settings and change the default SSID and turn off SSID broadcast.
6. Setup encryption key the strongest is WPA2 (if not then WPA). The encryption key can be easily set up using a passphrase (it can be an alpha numeric phrase or words).
7. For further security measures - turn on MAC address filtering and enter the MAC address of the wireless cards on the computer/s you want to connect to this wireless router.
8. Record the settings you have made and keep it in a safe place and Save the settings.
9. Configure the wireless cards on the computer/s with the SSID and encryption settings of the router.
10. Remove the LAN cable between the router and the computer then the computers should be able to connect to the router wirelessly.
To access the Internet you need to connect the DSL or cable modem to the WAN (Internet) port on the wireless router.

I have a Dynamode wireless router which i have configured however the cable which came with it does not fit into telephone connection. What other cable do i require

The nework cable that came with the wireless router has RJ45 connectors (8 wire cable) and the telephone cable has narrower connectors RJ11 (4 wire cable) or RJ12 (6 wire cable - less commonly used).
I assume the Dynamode wireless router does not have a built-in modem and therefore needs to be connected to a broadband modem.
If broadband modem is a cable or DSL type, the broadband modem is connected to the Dynamode WAN/Internet socket with a RJ45 LAN cable.
If you have a broadband DSL modem you need a RJ11 phone cable to connect the moden to the phone socket.

Cant access router setup

If you type in http://10.0.0.2 to the adress line on your web browser, you should see a login window for the router. I think it is the wrong address. I think you should first RESET the router. Look for a little hole about the size of a pencil point. Stick a paperclip in and hold it in for about 1 minute. This should reset the router to factory settings.
If you have the manual, it should tell you how to access its setup pages. This is a modem and router in one. You must have an ADSL phone connection to an ISP. You must have the ISP's information to connect to their network. This information is needed to set the modem part of the router to log onto the internet through the ISP. Best of luck.

Connecting to the internet with wireless router

Here's how to connect it.

PC > Connect to port 1 of the router
Modem's Ethernet > Connect to router's Internet or WAN port

Then do a power cycle, unplug the power to the modem and router. Wait for 30 seconds then plug the modem first, wait for the lights to go solid, then power up the router. Your laptop should see the wireless signal now.

Try holding down the reset switch on the back with the router turned on for about 10 seconds or more.

You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. Enter your username and password now. By default both the username and password are guest. Click the Ok button to log in to your router.
