SOURCE: can't scan PLEASE HELP!

SOLUTION: Download the latest version (v 7.7.2) of the HP software from the HP website at www.hp.com. Uninstall the previous software and then reinstall the downloaded software. WORKAROUND: Follow the steps below:

1. Load the slides or negatives in the TMA and place it on the scanner glass.
2. Open Image Zone and click on Scan Picture to scan everything.
3. After the scan is completed, change the settings from glass to scan slide/negative from TMA. The unit will scan again and show the four slides or negatives in the preview.
4. Click on the first picture in the scan preview and make the following changes:
   • change the dust and scratch removal/sharpness to none
   • change the resolution to 72 dpi
5. Click on the second picture in the scan preview and make the same changes described above.
6. Click on the third picture and then the fourth picture and make the same changes.
7. Click Accept . The correctly scanned slide or negative images will be saved in the Gallery.

There are two ways for install the Scanner using only "the driver" and using "HP Photosmart Studio Includes Support for Mac OS X v10.3, v10.4 and v10.5 (Leopard)" using the driver not include IRIS OCR software only the driver to scan and thats why say "An OCR error ocurred, couldn't create file". Installing the HP Photosmart Studio fix the problem.

If you're using Vista, this happens all too regularly with HP printers. I've had a few where I have to uninstall everything then re-install to make things work.
Two weeks later the same thing, same process.
Try downloading latest drivers from HP and see if that helps. HP don't admit there's a problem.
Don't seem to have this problem with Epson printers tho.

Hi,

According to your problem first reinstall the Mac version of the scanner driver. If you get the same error after reinstalling driver then try to scan a document and print from scanner without PC access. If you can't do this then follow the roller of the scanner. If the light or the roller not moving properly then contact nearest service center. You may need to replace the roller.
