I just got the same exact one, when it searches automatically the first time it doesn't look for digital channels. go to Menu>manual channel search>cable. it will look for all possible signals and will take forever probably. the free digital channels will take several seconds to switch channel to channel, but they're there! They will show up on your screen as "DC 91-2" or similar. you can switch back to regular cable channels with the input button, you just cycle through all the inputs. hope that helps.

Additionally, you can use an HD antenna to receive OTA (over the air) HD broadcasts from your local stations. ABC, NBC, CBS, & FOX

Digital channels are not working

If your TV is connected to a "cable" box, e.g. you're using cable TV ... then it is the cable TV box that determines what you can get (based on your cable subscription). Yes, I know that some cable TV and satellite TV service providers will only deliver HD digital channels when you pay an additional (monthly) fee for HD digital channels.
If you plug the cable directly into your TV (i.e. not use the cable box), you may be able to do a channel scan on your TV, to pick up the digital channels ... but you will loose the convenience of using the features that your cable box provides .

I bought a 42inch snayo hdtv and i cant get it to recieve any hd cahnnels and was wondering why.

You need an HD Cable box from either your Satellite provider or the cable company, and you must subscribe to the HD package. The HD package is usually in a different channel range than your SD channels.

Some HD channels won't work on new Samsung tv.

Some hd channels can only be viewed by watching thru a cable box. If you are using a cable box check with your cable provider to see what the issue is.

Connecting TV to cable service for HDTV

normally you need a converter box for hd because normal stations are broadcasted in hd.....its not common enough for them to do it...and you probably have to buy a package with your cable company for the hd channels. another thing...is your tv hd ready?

TV not finding Digital Channels from Cable Box

I don't know where you're located but you may want to double check with Time Warner on the availibilty of an HD box. I have TWC with an HD tier package and have an HDMI out on the box that runs directly into HDMI on this TV. Hope that helps!

HDTV

I don't think the DCT2244 has an RF bypass output and it is not HD enabled. Hence, you will need a cable splitter so that the unscrambled splitter outputs can go to the TV and the CABLE BOX independently. This will enable you to pick up any available unscrambled HDTV signals your provider offers as well as the channels you are subscribed to that require the box for decoding.
