Headphone socket won't work

I plug rcs plugs into the headphone outlet on this tv in order to take it to the amplifier, as they are the only outlet sockets on the TV - the only problem is, the sockets don't seem to work. I have tried just pluggin headphones into them and they don't mute the sound from the internal speakers and nothing comes through the headphones

  • nikwak May 18, 2008

I can't see what other connections I can make as there are no other connections on the television other than Scart

  • nikwak May 18, 2008

Just managed to sove this problem - there are two output sockets on the side of the television. However, they only work with inputs TV, EXT1 EXT 3 and EXT4 + PC which is a pain. It also means you have to do a bit of changing around in the menu to get it to work - another pain.

Thanks for all your help anyway - much appreciated

i think then headphones jack(place u insert ur headphones) is bad..
u wil have to replace the headphones jack in ur TV sir..

please do it by a tech or do it urself at ur own risk

tat s the only solution u have got..

  • Anonymous May 18, 2008

but make sure tat it is the headphones socket u r trying with..

    that socket is surely dead..

may be due to some loose connections inside ur power board or the socket has gone dead...

We have a Tevion 45967, we want to just play records on it. Do we need to plug it into external speakers

Not directly.
You can:
play it via AUDACITY on your computer, or
amplify it from the line-out RCA sockets*, via your sound-card line in or a separate hi-fi amplifier with equalizer, or
use a headphone-splitter cable and amplify from that to powered speakers.
*The downside of RCA sockets is that your player's internal speakers still work.
Anything plugged into the headphone socket cuts out internal speaker. The headphone splitter allows monitoring via a headphone aaas well.

Have hearing problem, need to attach speakers to TV. We can't find a port for plug

Most TVs have a headphone socket. Some have an audio output socket and others have a scart socket but I haven't seen a TV that has a means of attaching speakers directly.

If there is an audio output it can be connected to a hi-fi or an amplifier and speakers and similarly a scart adaptor can be used for the same purpose.

Probably the best and easiest way is to use the headphone socket and plug in a pair of powered computer speakers

Will my mp3 play in my sonyTa-Ax301 Integrated Amplifier

You need a 3.5mm to stereo phono/RCA cable
30117e72-b1d8-4c87-a816-ed8245f7fbe9.png

Plug the red and white ends in to any of the following sockets that are free - Tuner, Tape In, CD, Aux, Video In. They all do the same job. The names are just suggestions, they're not mandatory.

Plug the headphone jack plug in to the MP3 player's headphone socket. Turn the volume up on the MP3 player to about half way. Then select the source input on the amp that matches where you plugged the cable.

That's it. Hope this helps

Wires connect stereo

Assuming that your TV has a headphone socket, the easiest way is to connect a lead from the headphone socket on your TV to a spare line (or auxiliary) input on the Sony amp. You will need a 3.5mm stereo plug to twin RCA plug cable, long enough to reach both pieces of equipment. Most electrical stores should have a suitable cable available at modest cost :o)

My sony wireless headphones will not work with my new 32" Veira TV when I plug them into the audio ports white/red?

Hi,All the RCA sockets are inputs so you won't be able to plug in your heaphone transmitter into those.
From what I can gather you will need to plug the headphone transmitter into the 3.5mm Jack socket located on the right hand side of the TV near the RCA sockets.

If you only have RCA plugs on your heaphone transmitter you will need one of these pictured below.

You can get them from Maplins electronics or Radioshack if in the us or any good audio outlet.

Hope this helps.

I have a Toshiba 46XV550 LCD TV. It has a headphone jack but this mutes the TV speakers when I plug in wireless headphones. Can I use another outlet (with an adapter) so the TV speakers stay on and I can...

I went to the local electronics store and bought one 2xRCA sockets-3.5mm stereo socket splitter and 2 RCA joiner/couplers and plugged that into the monitor audio plugs at the back of the TV. Works great for a total of $12.00.

If I jiggle the cord in the stereo outliet, the sound switches from left to right earpiece and has to be just right in the outlet to get both earpieces working at the same time.

If you plug the headphones into another device do they stay on solid?
The problem can be the cord/plug (headphones) or the socket which your plugging into. Socket might need re-soldered or replaced.
