Question about Rheem 40 GAL ELEC TALL Water Heater 6YR SC 82VH402
To add to the first solution, You must drain the tank before you replace the elements. Especially the bottom element. The tank has two elements similar to the elements in an electric stove along with two thermostats that control the temperature of the water If an element(Calrod) is burned in half then the water acts as a resistor increasing the amp drain that pops the circuit breaker. Cut the power to the W heater at the breaker box. Using a meter check for power on the elements, no power drain the tank. Check for continuity on the elements. This should tell you what element is bad.
