I have a craftsman Dlt 3000 riding mower with a 20hp kohler v twin . engine starts and runs for 5 seconds and shuts off

easiest fix... replace the carb
not a rookie fix... rebuild it
but have you checked the air filter lately ???

Don't know but the carb part number is stamped on the carb. Take a look. Good luck.

With out more information it sounds like one of the safety switches is faulty -most likley the one under the clutch pedal .To test this locate and unplug the ignition wire coming from the engine to the wiring harness the engine should keep going -- you will need to plug it back in to stop the engine.If this works then repair or replace the faulty switch.

You have a fuel problem most likely a block in the carby. If it runs with the choke partially on this will verify the cause

Kohkler engine 22.5 hp will not restart in the morning,unless you shot some start fuild in the air cleaner

Sounds like the float in the carb is leaking by the set.

Try cleaning or better yet, replacing the spark plug. Depending on age and how your tractor was maintained, there are other possible causes.

• Gummed up fuel system
• dirty fuel filter
• defective or misaligned armature/magneto (part that causes your plug to spark, igniting the air/fuel mixture, thus starting the engine)
• throttle linkage/cable problems
• low oil level. Some Kohler engines use a low oil shut down sensor which won't allow the engine to run or start to avoid internal damage.
• Mechanical engine problems

Head gasket is blowed .Its building pressure in the crankcase seen it twice. Remove the head and check for a blowed out spot between piston and the valve side

Sounds like electronic ignition
