Answered

No sound back two speakers

When I do the auto set up it give me an error on the last left speaker. E-6 Check SUR.

    I've got the same problem on an RXV1800. Its a 7.1 amp but I've only got 5.1 speakers attached. I only get this message when trying to do the auto-setup. I've got hardly any sound coming from the rear speakers. The trouble shooting guide in the owners manual says this error happens when you don't have the surround side speakers connected. The only suggested remedy is connect the two side speakers. This is unhelpful since I only plan to run 5.1.

After using the method of last resort (RTFM) I discovered that Yamaha 7.1 amps assign an order of priority to the speakers. The surround speakers have higher priority than the surround-back speakers. I had connected the rear speakers (in a 5.1 configuration) to the surround-back speaker terminals and since nothing was connected to the surround terminals the E-6 error happed on auto-setup.

I eventually fixed this by connecting the rear speakers to the Surround L/R terminals and then, via the manual setup menu, set rear surround = NONE. This causes the amp to route the rear-surround signals to the Surround L/R terminals. The auto-configure then completed successfully.

Hi there I have a few month old onkyo TX-sr309 I can get sound on iPod input can get no sound on fm Fm is tuned to station tuned highlighted. But no sound Please help I love my radio!

Now that you've checked the surround speakers, (You have, haven't you?) you have probably got a defective driver/output on that channel in the receiver...accordianman

The problem might be on your speakers

1. Open the back cover of your T.V
2. The speaker is located on the left and right side of your T.V
3. Check it by using a multimeter. the reading must be on 6-8 ohms. usually a defective speaker will give you no reading. These speakers are available at electronic shop. replace same type of speakers.

I just bought Bose Companion 2 speakers which I don't know how to connect to my HP Pavillion desktop PC. The pdf instruction booklet does not help. There are multiple jacks (6) at the back of the tower...
You need to connect the speakers to the green jack in your PC.

Check your system sound volume setting to make sure it's not set to MUTE or the volume slider is on or near the lowest position - you don't specify what system you have on the PC so I can't give you an exact pointer but Volume Control generally is found under Programs -> Accessories -> Entertainment.

Swap the speakers left-to-right to isolate if it's an amp or speaker problem. You have not indicated this was done.

I HAVE A SONY RECIEVER STR-DH700, I get no sound
make sure the FM antenna is connected and in a good place then check to see if the A-B speaker selector is selected properly.check to see that the sound field is set properly, My 800 allows for several different options and if your speaker wires are reversed or not in the correct position front left at front left etc it will not send the signal to those speakers. try using the TEST TONE feature if you have one it will send a signal to each speaker in sequence (LF< C< RF<in order) it will go all the way around to see if they are connected properly, that way you can tell if they are connected at all or in the wrong spot on the back interface. I dont know if that is what you meant by AUTO CAL, but that is a seperate feature when you use the connected mic to determine range, height and distance to the position in the room you are most likely to be seated for optimal sound.

Center and surround speakers work, but front right and front left speakers do not put out any sound
I had the same problem. Set the reciever on 6 channel stereo. On this setting, you should be getting the same sound out of each speaker. Isolate which speakers aren't getting sound. Now, on your speaker switch (the A/B button), select A. If that doesn't fix it, select B. If that doesn't fix it, try A and B (if you can on your reciever).

Now, when you switch back to pro-logic, make sure your a/b channel switch is in the position that worked in 6 channel stereo. Yamaha recievers have a memory, and when you switch various modes, it makes auto adjustments based on what you had set in the past.
