Sylvania DV220SL8 DVD Player/VCR Combo

If you are using a Sylvania DV220SL8 DVD Player \ VCR combo (which this question is posted under the heading of) there is a very simple reason why you can't format DVD-RW disks. DVD Players can't do that. You need a DVD Recorder to format DVD's.

This applies to all comments under this heading as well. You can not record if the unit you're using does not have that capability. And this unit does not have it. You can record with the VHS VCR, but the DVD Player is just that... A Player. It's not a Recorder.

If you pc just plays dvds and is not a dvd burner theres and good chance that it just cant read that format and you would need and new dvd drive for your pc. sould be like $20 on amazon

Try unplugging the unit for a few seconds, plug it back in and try it. It may also be dirty and need a service.

(its been a while since you've posted this so I am pretty sure you figured it out but just in case you haven't) you hold down on the play button (while listening to a song) until the volume control shows up on the bottom and then use the fast forward, rewind buttons to adjust. you can also hold down the menu button (while still listening) and it will take you into the EQ options. Hope this helps!

One simple solution is to unplug the unit for 30 seconds then plug it back in. Worked like a charm for me.

have you considered google-ing your remote to get the codes? You didn't give one important piece of info...what brand is it? You can find it here:

!st) The antenna INPUT::RF (black wire usually from "cable TV", "Dish TV", even ANTENNA air wave reception,etc.) into INPUT of VCR\DVD, OUTPUT of VCR\DVD to TV RF input.
2nd) If you have INPUT\OUTPUT to what are called " RCA " jacks on your TV, on the front or on the back, then any & all output jacks from VCR\DVD goes to INPUT\OUTPUT of the TV.
In other words:: output of audio on VHS\DVD to input of audio on TV( RCA jacks). Output of video on VHS\DVD to input of video (RCA jacks)
