Place the TV face down on cushioning. There are four short hex head screws that hold the TV to the stand. There are two on each side of the mounting point (close to the bottom of the TV). (Turn counter-clockwise to loosen.) Next slide the base down from the bottom of the TV. The appropriate sized hex key was supplied with the TV (and the base was installed). If you want to, you can unscrew the support post from the base - it has 4 long hex head screws. This will let you put the base parts into an appropriate container for storage.
For a clear picture, see the manual for installing the base and work the steps in reverse. See here for a copy of the manual: http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/owner_manuals/search?query=LC46SB54U+ .
To put on the wall mount, you will need to remove the covers from the 4 mounting locations on the back of the TV and use the screws from the wall mount bracket kit.
I hope this helps.

I researched this problem on the net and found the solution. Someone on one of the posts said the base can be removed by taking out four screws - all from the back of the TV. One screw is the one closest to the power plug, the next screw is beside it, the remaining two screws are the corresponding screws on the opposite side of the base panel (still on the back of the TV). Once these screws are removed the base comes off including the mounting bolt and the rectangular shaped plastic panel. There are no electronics or any components inside the base panel, only the bolt and plastic base which are held on by the four aforementioned screws. It was very easy to remove!

The 2 screws on each side directly above the stand legs need to be removed. You do not need to remove the big plastic back panel. Remember the TV is heavy, the screws are under pressure and when the screws are removed the TV will drop. I suggest 3 people, 1 to remove the screws and 2 to hold up each side during and after the screws are removed.
If you want to remove the speakers, just disconnect the wires at the TV source, & remove top 2 screws from the brackets on each side of the centerline. Lower the speakers & rotate the bottom forward & out the front.

Took me a while to find this. Remove the two lowest screw, holding on the plastic back, in the centre and it drops out. -- Andrew

There are 4 screws on the back of the TV just above the base stand, remove those screws and then you can slide down the stand and remove it.

Hi there,
We had the same problem, we just wiggled it back and forth, gave it a good tug, and hey presto! We got it out. I'm not sure whether this is the "official" method of doing it, as nothing is mentioned in the instruction manuals.
Good luck!
