My LG 50PX4DR was working fine for 18 months but now we get sound but no picture when we first turn on TV. Get normal picture once we hit Exit or TV Guide button on remote. Pressing TV Guide again results in black picture (and no graphics or anything) so we cannot schedule TV recording on built-in DVR. But can record manually and playback fine. I have tried the normal setup functions to no avail. It seems like we need the software reset to factory condition and/or reloaded. Is there some magic remote key sequence I can use to do this and/or can I download software onto an SD card or something? Thanks
I had the same problem, LG replaced the main board to repair, Set has a two year warranty
Mine is doing the same thing. It's under warrenty and a guy is coming to look at it today. I will post more info once I find out more. I had called LG and they told me it's a problem with Gemstar and an upgrade that is going on with them. Not a TV problem. We will see.

I ran with it like this for months but then it started being unable to playback new recordings. I ended up getting the board replaced. The manufacturers warranty had expired but, unusually for me, I discovered I had purchased an extended warranty and that covered it. The new firmware seems to be better at recording the titles of shows but it still has the design quirks like stopping the show you are replaying when it starts a new recording.
To people who say "LG replaced the main board" -- could you please specify what the main board is? A a part number would be very useful.
