There is only one solution to the problem with the i80. Here it is: there is nothing jammed. This problem is the result of the top of the printer being pushed down, effectively crushing the paper feed path by a sixteenth of an inch, right at the center of the machine. Likely this is the result of being carried in a travel bag full of other stuff, like the power supply, or from things being placed to rest on top of the printer. The solution is to open the two top covers, to grasp the main steel bar that runs the entire width of the printer with a pair of long-nosed pliers and to simply apply upward pressure. This will, in turn, lift a black plastic paper guide that has been pushed down into the path of the paper by the slightly bent metal. The printer will happily feed paper after this relatively simple fix. Mark the problem up to bad industrial design (though the mechanisms of the printer are otherwise ingeniously well thought out).

How does one open the tope 2 covers? I have removed all the screws from the outer case and cannot separate the top and bottom with reasonable force.

SOURCE: Canon MP 160

I had the same problem with my mp 160, I tried to print but the printer only took the left side of the page and the paper got jammed. I pulled it out but I think a piece was left inside the printer. Error message was blinking, but somehow I got the printer moving again. I tried to print again, but this time the printer would take 1/10 of the whole page and stop, even though rollers were moving. My solution for this was to take a piece of thin cardbore(I used a magazine cover), cut it in a shape of A4, put it in printer, printed it and when the rollers start moving I forcebly pushed the cardboard through. Now it seems to work fine.

get a q-tip and wet one end in water.  run wet q-tip along head a few times.  then take dry end and run along head again to dry it.  then run wet end again on the absorber side of head.  then dry with dry end.  replace parts, do a deep cleaning, and try a test print.

SOURCE: How do I remove a Canon 730 Multipass print head

Press the button on the right hand side of the printer. Lift the lid, pull up the little gray handle. Rock the print head container a bit and you'll see a little metal bar. Grab that and pull straight up.

SOURCE: I have a Canon i9900 not even a year old and I

Hi There

Summary

Usage of compatible ink and leave the printer idle too long may cause printhead clogging
What should you do if you get this problem. Relax; you may recover the printhead by unclogging it. Follow these steps to unclog the printhead

1. Right click in the printer driver name
2. Select Properties menu
3. Click Maintenance tab
4. Click on cleaning sign for regular cleaning. Perform this up to 3 times.
5. If this does not work, perform Deep Cleaning

And if that not work

Some times it needs a good clean up but this is up to you if you want to do this,
But after you done this prime the printer so it gets the inks back in the heads, it may take a little time for the inks to work.

Ok.

There is fluid cleaner for this but I can never find any in the shops the only ones I seen is when they sell them in Tesco but they come in with the ink refill bottles so I just use worm water by it self on a cloth and dabbing on the heads to clean them, it will not harm the heads but not to much water.

Some heads are on the inks them self but some have them inside the printer so I not know your printer so if the heads are inside you need to get them out you may find that some heads will just clip out put some need to be unscrewed so you got to know how they come out so be careful and not push to hard on them, if the heads are on the ink then it is a easy job to clean them,
It worth a try it worked for me more than ones.

Please all I ask is call back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one, so I will keep on helping.

Canon i80 error 5100

Hi antoinette,
Someone has ever asked this problem and I have post a solution for this. Here is my answer:
Service error 5100 indicates that carriage return (CR) operation is not performed successfully. After the printer turned on, printer initialize some operation include CR operation. This error happens when carriage part (carriage unit) has problem when move right and left in initialization process.
This may be caused by:

* Faulty carriage part so thatit cannot read film encoder properly. As a result, carriagepart move on uncontrolled.
* Dirty film timing **** strip (Horizontal film encoder;available only ini series and above) so carriage part cannot read film encoder properly.
* Another material (such as broken paper, etc) present in carriage path, blocking carriage part from moving.

To fix this problem you may try the following tips:

* Check if any material present in carriage path; remove (clear) it
* Check if film encoder is dirty; wipe slightly with moistened clothe.
* At last, if carriage part is faulty you need to replace it.

Hope this will be helpful for you. Best regards,

Canon ip90 printer wont grab paper

The most likely culprit is that the rollers that pull the paper are dirty. Use the steps below to clean the rollers.

If paper does not feed correctly, perform the following to clean the paper feed rollers:
1) Confirm that the printer is powered on.
2) Remove any paper from the printer.
3) Press and hold the <Resume/Cancel> button.
4) Release the <Resume/Cancel> button after the Power lamp blinks three times.

Note: The Power lamp will blink and the paper feed roller starts cleaning itself by revolving.
5) When the Power lamp lights in green, repeat Steps 3 and 4 up to two additional times. (Please wait approx. 30 seconds for paper feed roller cleaning to complete.)
6) To confirm whether cleaning has been performed properly, set a blank sheet of plain paper (8 1/2 x 11 Letter size) in the sheet feeder or cassette.
7) Press and hold the <Resume/Cancel> button and release it when the Power lamp blinks three times. (The paper set in the printer is picked up and fed.)
8) Repeat the process as necessary
