although it is possible to do separately most times the transfer switch is internal to the inverter , and the fact you mention that inverter is not charging batteries tells me your fault lay in the inverter all or part of it is not working , look at it carefully these have sometimes two reset breakers on there cases
how old is your laptop? and how do u use it - do u leave it plugged into the wall socket all the time? It's common for batteries to die out after a couple of years. however, if the computer overheats or if you leave it plugged in all the time, it's life cycle will decrease. Charge - discharge cycles. That's how you are suposed to do it.
Perhaps remove the multi-bay battery, and let main battery charge all the way. Then reattach multi-bay battery, and see if it's recognized. (Will charge)
That is AC adapter (Charger) removed, then remove multi-bay battery. Plug AC adapter back into laptop, THEN plug AC adapter into power.
[You do Not want to unplug an AC adapter from a laptop, with the AC adapter plugged into power. Could be a power surge/voltage spike. Unplug AC adapter from power, when plugging into laptop, or unplugging from laptop ]
Main battery charged, unplug power to AC adapter, unplug AC adapter from laptop. Plug multi-bay battery in, then AC adapter. (Then plug AC adapter into power)
It cannot switched the batteries. The backup one is a small internal battery just to keep the CMOS with data. That's it.
If you main battery is not charging or when unplugged won't power on, the is likely the main battery is defective, or the charging circuitry of it is failing.
ok it looks like your battery has run out of power thats why it would not run when ac is off.If it so happens that the laptop runs when battery is connected to ac then battery seems fine by me just flat.
Conenect them to ac and run your pc,go to your control panell and power saving options and set to mimimum usage/power saving mode in this way you charge your battery.Remember bright screen consumes more power
