HP G6000 laptop has stopped working, it was working fine until making noise best described as popping noise, picture on screen went small turned green the whilst picture small little squares appeared,...
With the popping noise, I believe the laptops mother board is likely damaged. However, you can try removing the battery, and power cord. Hold the power button on the laptop in for 30 or more seconds. Now plug the power cord back in and try to power it up. If this gets no results then there is most likely an issue with the mother board. Depending were you purchased the laptop, you may have been offered an extended warrenty. If you took this warrenty and it is still in affect, it would be best to have them repair or replace the computer. If not, then you could take the computer to a repair shop for an extimate. It is likely the cost will be close to the price of a new laptop. The reason I recommend this course of action is, it sounds like you and your husband would not be very comfortable disassembling a laptop, replacing parts and re-assembling it.
I hope this helps
p.s. if either of you are comfortable, or confident in repairing the laptop yourself, let me know and I will provide more trouble shooting steps and point you in a direction for replacement parts.
mother board led comes on but nothing happens when i hit the switch
Hi, I have exactly the same problem. The computer does not turn on at all but the green light on the MB is on. I also disconnected the three little plugs labeled power led (blue and white) power s/w (black and white) and hdd led (red and white) and I do not know how to reconnect them back. My motherboard is Intel type D845EPI / D845GVSR. Can somebody show me how to connect those three plugs? Thanks
I've just put together a Phenom Quad system with a ASUS M3A32-MVP Deluxe Series MB and 2G 1066RAM and powered up the system with the green MB power light showing and..... nothing...dead. At first I thought it could have been the new 1200W PSU due to problems with the CPU or RAM usual you get to the post at least. So I started the process of elimination by testing with a new working 650W PSU....nothing. To confirm I tried the 1200W with another system and it goes well. Then I tired a working power switch and still....nothing. Furthermore, I connected and reconnected to ensure all OK and have deducted it must be the MB. Does the symptoms sound like this or would you suggest I look at something else?
