I had to unhook my d-link router DIR615 from my internet and my laptop because it stopped working with my dsl and it caused my desktop to not connect to the internet I have had problems with this router ever since I got it . Now I can't figure out how to hook it back up so both my desktop and my laptop will work with the internet. i cannot figure out why this happens and when I get it to work it is so slow. it takes forever to hook up to the internet via router to the laptop I'm not that far away from my router either I am really unhappy with this. Please help!

Make sure that your computer is able to go online through the modem.
If your computer is not able to go online through the modem then you will need to call ISP first.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem then you need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

My laptop is connected to murrays wifi but my landlord forgets the password for me to connect my iphone.

He can reset the whole router back to factory conditions including user name and password by holding a reset (may need a toothpick or ball point pen. Google the model number for the manual.

Once reset, set, no other tennents will have acces until they connect with the default network name and password (or new username and/or password).

Cannot get router to accept security password

Try 192.168.1.1 It works for mine. However. You must be longed into the router LAN. You can also login with thru the routers IP address which is different than mentioned above.

I keep getting kicked off

Try changing your wireless channel to 1 or 11 to see if that resolves the problem. You can access the router page if you need help logging into your router.

If that doesn't work, I think calling them is the correct course of action. number is 1-800-255-3700. they are open from 6a to 7p PST, seven days a week.

Wireless Home network will not stay connected to internet

So you have a DSL modem connected to a router connected to a wireless router connected to both your computers? Sounds like you need to just get a wireless modem and throw all the routers away.

My desktop uses a DSL internet connection but my lap top will not pick up the signal from it to connect even when I have it sitting right next to my desktop. If I actually unplug yellow connection cord...

Having your laptop sitting next to your desktop will not let your laptop connect to the DSL link.

You need what's called a Wireless Router. (assuming your laptop has a wireless adapter, if not you'll need a network cable for that.

1. Go to the store, buy a wireless router
2. install router in between your DSL modem and the computer.
3. Plug the WAN port into the DSL modem (cable is usually included with the router)
4. Plug the desktop into the back of one of the ports of the wireless router
5. Run the setup disk
6. For manual configuration of the router you can usually go to: 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1 depending on the brand)
7. If you don't know anything about networking, let the install disk do all the work.
8. Follow the instructions on what it tells you your configuration is for your wireless network.
9. Go to your laptop, apply said instructions.
10. ???
11. Profit.

Lan

Okay so if I understand your question....your desktop has DSL and you want to connect your laptop to the same DSL connection? If that is the case then what you need is a router. A router will share the DSL connection between the desktop and the laptop. A wireless router will allow your laptop to surf wirelessly if it has a wireless adapter or you can plug it into the ethernet port on the laptop. You can purchase one here. The instructions are pretty simple and straightforward and should be included with the router.
