I think the type of capacitors you are talking about are used to keep power spikes down. If so they are going to be wired in between the battery and the sub amplifier(s). The cap will need to be as close the amp as possible and be grounded with a separate heavy gauge cable, preferably to a different spot than your amps ground. The power wire from the battery will be connected to the pos. terminal on the cap. A second lead will run from that terminal to the amps pos. input. With the cap as close to the amp as possible and the cables from the cap. to the amp as short as possible and as thick as needed for your power requirements. Your ground wire should also be thick (heavy gauge) and short, terminated on clean paint free metal surface of your vehicle. The power wire from the battery should also be as thick as needed-more is better here so don't be afraid to spend some money. THERE IS ALSO A VERY IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT CAPACITORS-you should slowly charge the cap before connecting the lead from the battery, not doing so is DANGEROUS. You can use either a 12volt light bulb or a small resistor to charge the cap. One side of the resistor or the light is connected to the battery lead and the other to the pos. of the cap. If you are using a light bulb it will indicate charging by lighting up. If you use a resistor you will need a voltmeter to check your progress (be carefull with either of these methods they can be a little hot on your fingers). When done charging, hook up the battery wire and you should be good to go. If it was done right and you have the right size caps for your setup the following things will occur and not necessarily in this order.

1. Your headlights are no longer dancing to the beat.

2. Your rear veiw mirror is harder to see through.

3.You will not have to replace your alternator or battery in your car anytime soon.

4. A smile will appear on your face as you plan your next move towards world domination!

Well maybe not the last one.

How to install a subwoofer and amplifier

When installing any electrical components always remember to unhook the battery. First thing you want to do is run your ground cable from a volt meter to a body or frame nut or bolt near by in the trunk or hatch area a shorter thicker ground is best then connect the other end of your volt meter to your battery cable that will need to be run through the firewall and connect to the positive battery terminal. Also VERY important make sure you have installed a fuse on the wire in between the amp and the battery. after you have connected the battery cable and ground to your meter it will light up or give you the correct reading for your ground, if not run the ground somewhere else until you have found the right spot. pull out your stereo, for stereos that are made to be compatible with an amp there will be multiple rca jacks in the back of the stereo. For a sub woofer you want to hook the rca cable to the rear or sub labeled rca jacks. Then run your amplifier remote wire to the remote wire protruding from the back of your car stereo. After that you can run the ground and battery cable to the correct slots. Now connect your sub via rca and your done. making it fit correctly is up to you. If you do not have an amp with a subwoofer out then you can take the wires from your sub and bridge the connection to your amp and get enough power, take the positive wire to your sub and hook it up to the positive terminal of channel one on the amp then take the negative wire from your sub and hook it into the negative terminal on channel two and your done.

Replaced battery in my car on wedenseday car started right up got home turned car off car wouldnt strt back up took battery out put it back in car starte right up turned car off same problem occured

Ok, if you have a subwoofer system, ground wire going to the battery from the AMP is draining the battery due to improper wiring. Your best bet would be to contact a car audio shop or BETTER YET, go to one. They will definitely be able to help you out.

How to assemble boss sub woofer, any?

If you have already bought the subwoofer, you will need to buy an enclosure for it. As well, you will need an amplifier and a compatible receiver for the amplifier.
Once you have all of these components, you will need to wire them all together. For this, you will need a pair of RCA cables to run from the receiver to your amplifier, a power wire to run from your amplifier to your battery, and wire running from your amplifier to your enclosure/subwoofer.

I have a hifonics bxi2010D amplifier it keeps cutting out i have had it since august it was working fine until 6 weeks go and it started cutting out. But the protect light on the amplifer does not come on....

Whats your voltage at when the amp cuts out? Low voltage will cut the amp off. The cap could be bad, but if it is low voltage causing the problem I would check the battery and alternator 1st...hope this helps

1992 Mr2 electrical problems

These MR2s came from the factory with a subwoofer and 6 speakers...if your subwoofer has been removed and the system tampered with, you may just have to run a new power wire from your ignition switch and a new ground to your new unit. Just make sure that you wire it to the correct posts on the ignition switch.

Also, do not ground it to the battery...the electric powersteering will make a buzzing in the stereo anyway since it is not shielded, but if you ground the unit to your battery it will make it much worse. Ground your unit to the floor or some other metal surface close to your stereo. Hope this helps...I had the same problem when I bought my 1991 MR2. Good Luck!

Power wire

You should run a new power wire to the battery or fuse box from the Sub. For safety there should be a fuse on the cable at the battery or fusebox end.

Battery problem

I would recommend increasing your altinator and getting a yellow top battery. Basically what is happening is your using more power than the car can produce.
