Question about Panasonic RR-830 Desktop Cassette Transcriber / Recorder

1 Answer

Tape plays too fast on slowest setting

I am doing some transcription work, but 3 of the tapes that I need to transcribe play really fast! I have the settings as slow as they go (the tape speed and vsc levels are all the way down). I have tried different combinations such as sliding the tape speed all the way down, and the vsc all the way up. this helps, but it is still very hard to understand because this creates a lot of static noise. It is strange because I have several tapes that worked just fine. Is there anything else I can try?

I have the same problem with the tape speed being too fast. What setting or speed should the dictator set his machine on?

The tapes may have been recorded at 1/2 speed or 1/4 speed so they are not playable on this model.

It could be the rewind solenoid is jamed up or there is a switch that comes loose under the tape deck. Either way, it will need to be serviced.
