How do I reset the lamp timer on my sim2 D60?! Please someone help? And please don't say ask the manufacturer, they won't tell me....

If you have replaced the lamp in your Panasonic DLP TV and are having problems such as a message on the screen telling you to reset the lamp timer or the unit not powering up, you probably need to reset the lamp counter. All DLP and LCD TVs which have high intensity lamps generally need to have a lamp timer circuit reset after a lamp change. The manufacturers want to give you a heads up prior to having a catastrophic event such as a lamp exploding which could cause a fire as well as other damage.

Therefore in many cases until you reset the lamp timer the unit will not operate or it will keep reminding you to reset the lamp timer which is very obnoxious. This is not a hard procedure but you will need the original factory remote to accomplish the task. Generally the procedure involves pushing a sequence of buttons.

I recommend placing a piece of masking tape on the rear of the TV with the date the lamp was changed to make it easy to remember when the next lamp change will be necessary. Also you could purchase a lamp now to avoid paying more in the future.

The following procedure should solve your problem:

1. Turn on the television.
2. Press the down button on the TV display (not the remote)
3. While pressing the volume button, press the "split" or "PIP" button on the remote.

This should reset your lamp timer.
