The battery died (I think) in the Sony. It won't turn on, or recharge or anything and is only three months old. It never held a long charge. How can I get a new battery and how do I replace it. Sony wants $77 just to look at it.

I have had my mmp8565 for a year but barely used it. Now the battery charges to full, it plays about 10 minutes worth of music and says low battery!

I have a memorex mm8565 MP3 player and it doesn't hold a charge either! I've only had it for 6 months and I've used it for maybe 6 hours total.

Wen i turn it on it says battery too low system shut down but wen i plug it in too charge it dosnt charge up it just says the same thing

Possible that the battery can be bad, so to confirm first check the charger adapter of the player and see if the voltage is good. If so let the player shuts down with the power fully OFF.
The set the charger ON for a full day and check the player to play. If the player fails then it is possible that the battery is faulty.
Try to open and check to confirm before you can replace.

I shut down the computer while charging my mp3

Try plugging in the USB connection again. If that doesn't work, unplug it and then press and hold the on button for ten seconds.

I charge the MP3 player and it still shows "low battery" message.

There is a trick to charging the battery in these small mp3 players. It won't charge if it is turned on, and it won't charges if it's turned off. Here's what to do...
1. plug the player into your USB port. or wall charger
2. switch the player on using the mechanical switch (on the side)
3. turn it off by either holding down the play button, or selecting "System" from the menu
4. The screen will go black and the battery will begin charging.
That is if the battery is still chargeable after all this time. The battery may well require replacing.

The mp3 player won't charge when I plug it into the computer and my wife's won't accept any more playlist

I dont know about the playlist. But if the Sansa LION battery goes too low it shuts down. When you plug it into your computer to charge the player, It usually powers up so the computer can detect the hardware being plugged into the USB port and provide power for charge.
You need to plug in the USB cable from the player to the PC and perform a system reset - Press and hold for 20 seconds the power on button and the play button (>||). this should work you may try it on your wifes player?

Batter low shutting down

Your battery is low, therefore the player is shutting down.
Recharge the player by plugging it into your computer for 3-4 hours - make sure the hold/lock is not activated, or it will prevent proper charging.

Charging SanDisk Sansa

Go ahead and do this, in case the DB is corrupted:
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/DriverDownloads.aspx

Charge

This is I read from another site, the mp3 player must be on in order for it charge. Make sure the power is on. Next if you are not using it make sure you turn it off, because even if it goes into shut down or low power mode it can still drain the battery.
