Sounds like the tracks you are trying to play are DRM protected. This usually causes the "File format not supported" error.

If you are downloading these files from the internet, then you'll have to look elsewhere for files.

If you are ripping your own CDs to .MP3 or .WMA with Windows Media Player, then you need to change a setting in Windows Media Player.

Open Windows Media Player. If visible, click on "Tools" then options. If the menus are not visible, right-click at the top of the Media Player Window, then select "Tools" and click options.

Click on the "Rip CD" or "Rip Music" tab (depending on version).

Remove the tick from the box next to "Copy Protect Music" (or similar)

This will stop DRM protection on any further tracks ripped.

You will need to rip any DRM tracks again.

Check the specification of your MP3 player to determine thetype of video file format it uses. Most common video files that MP3 players use are, AVI andWMV, there may be others such as FLV, MOV and DivX. If your player cannot play a video then it is anincompatible video file format, then you need to convert that video file to aformat that your MP3 player uses. Whenever i try to play a song on my phillips gogear vibe mp3 player it sais "file format not supported' and they are mp3 files. What gives?

"File format not supported" means that the song that you've downloaded into your MP3 player is NOT an .MP3 file format. For each MP3 player have their own supported file formats. You need to check the manual of your MP3 player to see what are the supported sound file formats (i.e. .mp3, .wma, .mp4). Then check the file format of the songs that are saved in your player.

If the songs are supported but you're still getting the error message, try to delete all the songs and then download the songs again and save it into your player. If the same problem occur, then it may need a firmware upgrade or reformat.

Thank you and good luck!
