Panasonic PT-47WX49 47" Rear Projection Television Logo

Hi, my Panasonic PT47WX49E rear projection tv suddenly shut itself off. It won't turn back on at all unless I unplug it and plug it back in. However, when I do that, the power light comes on but nothing happens on the screen. Seconds after that, the tv shuts itself off again (I can hear the "click"), then won't power back on unless I repeat the unplug/plug in again. Am I doomed?

Either give me a yahoo or note if light on front of set blinks--count the blinks if it does.

most common is 3 blinks, pause 3 or 5 blinks etc.

Let me know if I can assist you.

It does not blink at all. The red light comes on for a second or two, then it all powers off. The very weird thing is that you can't get it to start to power on again unless you unplug the wire from the wall and plug it back in.

Not strange at all, it means something related to the microprocessor in the set is being affected, unplugging resets the micro.

If power light comes on and goes off, either a voltage to the micro is missing or low or some problem with the micro---not likely to be fixed in your home.

This sounds like a main power board issue. After you unplug it, it will work? Are you planning on trying to service it or having it serviced?
Thanks,

Panasonic PT53TW53G doesn't shut off

Sound like your relay is stuck or the cpu turn on line is not working, or you have a short somewere, like a jumper

Would open the back and tap on the relay first to see what happen's, first time I see this.
Meanwhile the force is with you.

Tv turned off

When the tv shuts done does the power light blink? If so what number does it blink? That will tell me which circuit your problem is in. Notice the number of blinks then let me know. Also what is the model number of your set.

Tv problems

Unplug the three red-blue-green plugs nest to the convergence amps. If the unit powers up and stays on the picture will look bad but will confirm that the convergence amps have failed...
Replacing the amps and one or more resistors in the yoke return will restore the set to normal operation..
Use only Sanyo original Ics..
