Don't get ABC or NBC local channels anymore

I installed the converter box last night and now I can't get the local ABC and NBC channels. I know for a fact that both are broadcast digitally from the news stations websites. Why don't I have these channels (it says 'no signal') and how can I get them again before tonight's Office?

I am having the same problem, I currently get 10 channels with the antenna hooked direct to the TV, but after we hooked up the Insignia converter to the TV & Antenna can only get channel 2. We have tried turning the antenna & moved it to 3 different locations on the roof with no luck.

I was receiving ABC from the start. However, now that I've played around with my bunny ears, I've lost ABC completely, but I have acquired NBC. Still no CBS or FOX, but I have 23 other channels.

    cannot get digital channels

  • Anonymous Sep 15, 2008

I have analog reception that is great with a large rooftop antenna that is connected to an amplifier and then to my tv and vcr. After connecting a Zenith DTT901 converter I can no longer receive the major network stations which are transmitting digitally in the NYC area where I live. I do now receive many mostly foreign language stations that I could not get before (what formerly used to be considered minor UHF stations). I can no longer receive ABC,CBS,NBC,PBS,WOR,WPIX

we used to get nbc before with just rabbit ears,it came in beautifully now nothing... no signal.

  • Anonymous Feb 25, 2009

i connected the not so easy converter box, and all of my channels came in except ABC, we attached an old school antenna but still that didnt help. Then a week later i am now without both ABC and CBS...I've tried moving the antenna around, Ive checked the signal strength, but to no avail Im still without these channels!

  • Anonymous Mar 02, 2009

I have not received ABC since I got the converter box. I do not think it is my signal strength via antenna, b/c I received ABC more clearly than other stations before the converter box (and I just have a little rabbit ears).

The problem I think is ABC... otherwise why would sooo many people be having this issue?

We don't get ABC since we installed our converter box. The remote skips over channel 7(our local ABC) altogether.

  • ginalitton Apr 03, 2009

We have 3 tv's in the house and 2 are HD We get ABC on 2 of the tv's one HD and one with a converter box. We just use an antenna and get all the other channels fine in HD except ABC. We used to be able to search for it everytime we turned on the TV and it would come in but now we get nothing. We checked the connections for the outdoor antenna and it was good so why don't i get ABC on only one of my Tv 's??

I have an outdoor antenna, pointed it at the correct azimuth for Philly. I get 29 channels. All crystal clear. I still do not get ABC! I have tried with three different antennas. Two indoor amplified, now this 50+ mile outdoor antenna. I think the problem is with ABC or the Sony TV. Any other help out there???

ATSC tuners ("D/A converters") pick up signals off the air just like old school television. It sounds like you are just not getting a signal of sufficient strength. A weak analog signal looks like a "snowy" picture, which most of us are used to. But, the new digital channels quickly go from a perfect picture to none at all. It's basically all-or-nothing.

Try attaching an antenna to your converter. I know you can buy a new antenna from your local big box electronics store which is labeled "Terrestrial HDTV" or something, but that really doesn't mean anything. You can use any old TV antenna. Even a quality FM antenna (with an F-Pin coax connection) may work just fine.

When setting up the antenna, keep in mind that different channels are transmitted from different towers, in different locations with different strengths. Move the antenna placement and position around (just like grandpa had to do). You may have to make a compromise to get the best signal for your favorite channels.

Do I need a digtal converter box to pick up local stations via antenna?

Some local broadcasting will still be in analog but this is just jor simple programming such as college stations. To get local programming such as NBC,ABC,CBS etc. you will need to get a converter since the government has mandated all broadcast be in digital to free up air space.

Note that it may be a case by case basis for some smaller areas.

I can no longer get nbc on my converter box

try doing a rescan of the channels, might also be new RF signal obstruction in the area, try re pointing your antenna a different angle, this helped me once when a weak channel was freezing often.

I can't see NBC with the digital conveter box

Is it only NBC? Or are the other over air channels (ABC, CBS, Fox) also not seen?

Are you going through a splitter with the incoming signal? if so, make sure the splitter frequency range is at least 5 to 1000 Mhz.

You should see the 'temporary lost signal' wording on the channel. Check all cable connections to make sure the cable to connector plug are tight and not loose.

I have a 13' Orion tv, model #TV1326BW with rabbit ear antenna. I have connected everything correctly to the converter box for digital signals. I can pick up all stations except the local CBS affliciate....

I have the same TV & cannot get into the TV menu to program the cable... it was bought secondhand without the original remote. There are no buttons anywhere on the TV itself to bring up the menu & the universal remote's menu option doesn't do it, either... how do I set the channels?

Can't get digital converter box to work with Toshiba TV/VCR Combo

You will need to rescan your stations. On the June cutoff date, they reshuffled and renumbered most of the stations.

Dont have cable. i bought the analog converter, but read i don't

Digital Ready is not the same as having a digital tuner built in. Yours is probably the former and you do need a converter box: http://www.ezdigitaltv.com/HDTV_vs_HDTV-Ready.html

Cannot get local channels back after dropping cable.

Are you positive that your city has not done the Digital Conversion? Some Cities are doing it early before the February deadline. Also make sure you are tuning in to the correct channels. Meaning that if on your Cable Provider ABC was on Channel 3 that does not mean that ABC with still be on Channel 3 after you have your Cable turned off. Most of the Time the Local Stations Tag will let you know what channel its on. It will be something like "KWAS ABC 27" So on your TV you would Tune it to channel 27 to get ABC and the same fore NBC , FOX, CBS , etc...
I hope this helps Take Care =)
