My refrigerator is not working. I opened the freezer and pulled out the drawers and there was about an inch of heavy frost on the back wall. I tried removing it and opening up the vents near the floor of the freezer, but it didn't help.
Any ideas as to what is causing this? It's only one and a half years old and I've never had any problems with it.
thanks, Pat
Defrost circuit problem, the snow means that your freezer coil is not being automatically defrosted. This could be a problem with the defrost heaters or defrost timer. Also in the newer models a module
controls this operation. Call for service. Removing ice or snow from the back wall is not the solution. The coil behind the back wall is also frozen and no air is circulating.
This is one of the first signs that the
refrigerator is missing defrost. Open freezer door and look at the back wall of
your freezer. When a refrigerator does not defrost you will see a frost layer
covering the rear panel back or bottom panel of your freezer. Below is a small
photo of a refrigerator freezer that has not been defrosting. For a larger

Your BX50RE is sold in the UK? Think you may have one of three problems causing this and number one is the defrost heater two is the defrost control and last the defrost thermostat.Click to enlarge
By the way you will not see this in freezer because the
rear panel covers this, but there should be a layer building on the outside of
that panel.

I have frost piled high on the bottom shelf that pulls out. I lowered the number to 1 and it still piles up. The refridgerator is fine just the freezer. I just moved into my rental place and my landlord says it is my problem, but it just started this when I turned on the appliance.
