The record button starts recording, but pressing it again will not stop recording. We have to turn the camcorder completely off causing us to lose everything we recorded.

try with another memoy card, if the problem persist, ask for the manufacturer technical service to fix the problem as it is still warranty covered

Sounds like the recording media in cam is full, what are you catching video on? Disk or Mem stick? replace it with another and see if that works okay?

Just press the record button again and it will stop recording. Press it again and it will start recording.

Well... If you are looking for the pause function for the playback kepp reading. if you are trying to pause while filming go to the next paragraph.
It is verry unfortunate that while you are trying to view your video on your camcorder or while hokked into your T.V. there is no way of pausing. You can only stop and play your video and once you stop it it will restart at the beginning of the recording. To view it better and have more controll over all of the settings your best bet is to attach it to your computer,

Now if you are trying to record something then want it to stop recording all you need to do is press the little button with the picture of the video camera once more,as soon as what you want to record is complete. This will stop the recording untill you press it again when you want to record something else

Set that switch to Camera to record live view. Press red button to start recording and press again to stop recording.

this problem is caused by defective power and record start/stop switches. they are still available from Panasonic.

2. Press INPUT repeatedly to select the external
input to record from.

3. Load a recordable disc.
4. Set a recording mode as necessary by pressing
REC MODE repeatedly.
DVD: XP, SP, LP or EP.
5. Press the REC button once to start recording.
The REC indicator lights in the display window.
6. Press STOP (x) to stop recording.

hi sir just two things to do first 1- restore to factory setings from the menu and check if it is solved 2- if not just try to see does the knub is in its reguler state if yes so you need to replace it

Connect the camcorder to the VCR or TV with the AUDIO/VIDEO cable (provided) (to the A/V Outputs on External Device) 2. Set the power switch of the camcorder to PLAYER mode. 3. Turn on the VCR or TV. 4. Insert the blank tape with protection tab closed into the camcorder. If you want to record from a connected VCR, insert a recorded VHS tape into the VCR. 5. You can record video with audio onto the Memory Card. Follow the instructions below. Recording moving pictures onto a MEMORY CARD 1. Insert a Memory Card into the slot on the camcorder. 2. Set the mode switch to MEMORY CARD position. 3. Set the power switch to CAMERA mode. 4. Press the START/STOP button, the images are recorded on the MEMORY CARD in MPEG4. * You can record 10 ~ 20 seconds continuously. * You can record a still image on the Memory Card by pressing the Photo button instead of the START/STOP button. 5. Press the START/STOP button to stop the recording. Notes: * Moving images that you recorded are saved in *.asf file format on the Memory Card. * The moving picture images on a Memory Card are smaller size and lower definition than those on a Tape. * The sound is recorded in mono. * The following functions cannot be operated in M.REC Mode. - DIS (Digital Image Stabilizer), Digital Zoom, Fade, Program AE, Digital Special Effect, Slow Shutter. * Don't insert or eject a tape during Memory card recording as it may record noise. * Don't eject the Memory Card during recording as it may break the data on the Memory Card or the Memory Card itself.
