It is problem of failure of convergence ICs or related circuit. Please confirm model number of your TV that is Sony KP-57WS500 to help you out. It would be nice if you could past TV snap shot here for easy understanding. Thank you.
Our 37 inch Sanyo LCD HDTV has a problem with the picture distorted by being too wide. This has beenia problem for the duration since we bought the TV about three months ago. Can you post a picture of the TV screen with the problem? It will help in the diagnoses. It looks like you may have a thermal sensitive component causing this issue. But I will have to seen a picture of the screen to properly diagnose this problem as to the possible section that may be causing this problem.
