The printer said my black ink was empty. I replaced the tank. The printer starts to boot and then the trouble light comes on. I can't perform any maintenance items. I have reloaded the CD that came with the printer without effect.

There is a green and an orange light. There is a button to turn on the printer and a resume button. If i press the on=off the green light comes on and the printer starts its boot up but it quickly stops boot up and the color of the light turns to orange. I've followed instructions to turn off the printer and to unplug the power without success.

I have already tried all of this action. I just tried it again. I suspected this was the problem and it probably is the black cartridge since that is the one that ran out of ink. Any thoughts on how to get the beast to recognize the cartridge other than what i have already tried?

Hi. how many light you have there on the printer? what are the color of the led indicators. Are you using an ink cartridge. Try to reset the black ink and restart the printer.

  • Anonymous Sep 13, 2010

The light indicator is telling you that the ink cartridge is not being recognized by the printer. Take out all the cartridge and put it back on by one. Make sure you will hear a click sound when you put it back. Click sound will tell you that cartridges are position properly.

I dont understand why the computer is not detecting the ink. I assumed that the ink that you purchased is the original one that came from canon, right? If you noticed, theres is a chip infront of the ink that makes the printer recognized the cartridge. That is one issue why printer is not detecting the ink. Chip might have a problem. Maybe you take the printer to the store where you purchased the cartridge so that if in anycase you have a proof that the cartridge you purchased wont recognized by the printer. They might replaced it for free.
