You can find replacement fuel filters at a nearby hardware store. Once you have one, fish out the line from inside the tank and fit new filter onto line and place it all back into the tank. You will probably have to back out the tube a little after re-installation.
The filter sounds like the weighted type. If so, it keeps the pickup line on the bottom. The piece that keeps the tube in the tank can just be a piece of a little larger tube pressed over the pickup tube. Yoi will have to thread new tubing in and pull it out the fill hole. Place the keeper on the tube and press the filter into the pickup tube. Once you are ready, pull the pickup tube inti the tank until the keeper touches the tank side. Hook up to the primer and try it. Good luck...Lee
you hook one line to it the return line inside the tank
The line you used as a return line pull it back thru the gas cap hole and put that piece on one end of that line and pull it back in the tank until it stops and then hook the return line back where it belongs
The Smaller line goes on the Lower inlet tube on the carborater the other end goes to the gas filter inside the gas tank.
The Larger line goes on the upper outlet tube on the carborater the other end goes to a fitting that holds this tube from coming out on the gas tank .This tube is only for Air, it helps fill the primer bulb when pushed.
I hope this helps.
Mechs correct me if I have made a mistake.

I ran a short piece of coathanger that I cut through the fuel line and used electrical tape (stretched tight) to tape it securely at the end and pushed it thru the hole. Then I removed the electrical tape and cut off the part of the hose that had been taped. You waste an inch or two of fuel line, but that's how I got mine thru. Sure hope this helps and best wishes.
Have it replaced at a lawnmower repair shop.
1.) Have them check the grommet (black round rubber like a thick coin with 2 or 3 holes), replace it if it is crumbly. It holds the fuel line and the fuel vent line - if your trimmer has it. Grommets on the average cost about $6.00. Not all trimmers have fuel grommets, some of them only have holes right on the fuel tank.
2.) Replace the fuel line with Tygon fuel line hose. Tygon can withstand UV light, petroleum, high and low temperatures while retaining its shape. Just make sure the replacement tube is of the the same inside diameter. For a small piece of Tygon hose, ave. cost no greater than $8.00.
3.) Replace the fuel filter. The one inside the tank, connects to the end of the fuel line. Fuel filter, good ones are about $4.00.
I need to replace the gas filter in a featherlite weedeater 18cc. it rotted off and I dont know what line it goes on? is the other gas line a return gas line?
The best way to get the correct size lines is to take a piece of the old lines to your local outdoor power & equipment store, or sometimes your local auto parts store will carry them, and let them match them up. You may have two different size lines, so make sure to get pieces of both.
