Tough problem. Could be the guitar, or the wireless reciever. Try plugging the guitar in via USB and see if it works. If not, try these steps. http://hubpages.com/hub/Fix-a-Wireless-Guitar
It could be that you over used it,or it could have been bumped.This can happen if you repeatedly play it,the wires and or other pieces.You could have to get a new controler itself or you may need to get a new adapter,other than that I cannot think of anything.Hope it helped.
Question, are they wireless guitars or are they corded? If they are wireless, try switching the wireless cards on the playstation where the cord slot is. But use the same guitar with the different card. Thats how I was able to solve my same problem.
SOunds like something internal is fried and its no longer bueno.. just like the sixaxis controllers went out on me! open it up take a gander worse thing that can happen is you need to buy a new one on ebay for 20$
