You can purchase a copy of the Necchi 537L manual as either a PDF download or a printed manual here: https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/instruction-manual-necchi-537-l.aspx? . There are several online guides for threading Necchi machines. These may help. However I don't know how different the leather and lace 537 is from other Necchi machines. The manual will have the threading diagrams.
I don't of anyone that has a free manual, try these 2 sites and see if they can help you
sewvacdoctor.com or A1sewingmachines.com,, you can even try ebay
there is a facebook group for necchi sewing machines, you might join them and see if they have a free manual
There are also several sites that have parts for sewing machines but do not list their complete inventory online. To check if they have your part, e-mail them with a complete description of the part and the model. For example, try http://www.a1sewingmachine.com/parts.html .
If , you go to www.tias.com you wil be able to purchase a copy of a technicians book, the Sears Kenmore Sensor Sew 100 was the same machine, Necchi made it for them. Parts are going to be next to impossible to get. My motor is shot, but everything else is like brand new, boards etc. I bought the book and that is why I knew it was the motor. Sometimes, ebay will have one for sale, but they want too much. I am using mine as a doorstop, LOL, I paid $800 for it new in 19884. Good luck
it sounds like the thred tenshion is to loos or the timing has sliped a little and its off a bit this can also happen with wear on the gears or just a loos fixing letting the timing slip back a bit,
