Panasonic SA-HT940 Hello, I just got off work and went to turn the DVD surround system on and it powers up and F61 shows then it immediately shuts down. What's the problem? Thanks for the help.

it is fault of cooling system, and sound output error, if fan is disconnected or not running F61 comes on screen then nothing happends, power sound ic is the main cause of the device, not only cleaning works, may need to change the the power sound out put ic.

As sugested by many experts.I replaced the ic no rsn311w 64d,still the error code f61 appears.Now where is the fault.?

F61 usually means the amp has detected a short or a severe microprocessor error.

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Check for loose speaker connections at the speaker as a root cause for intermittent shutdown.

Although the Panasonic Home Theater systems are great when they work properly. If your machine displays the "f61" error message, it's likely to be little more than a paper weight for the average person. The inner workings of the machine are rather complex to disassemble for diagnostics. And can take several hours to check all the components. The best advice I can give you is to sell the machine on e-bay as a broken item. If you offer shipping you can get more money for a complete system (speakers & all).

yes i did see this code F61  but turned off and back on and the surround and center speakers still don't work

unplugged a Panasonic HDTV plasma for four minutes, plugged back in and Now the DVD does not work.
