SOURCE: Samsung LE40R73BD DTV freezing, wont chnage channel

i've just some digging around and found that you can access a service menu and perform a reset which sorted the issue for me.

Access the service menu by pressing, in order, whilst the tv is in stand-by mode:

info
menu
mute
power

when the tv comes back on you will have a service menu; select option 12 (reset) the tv will then switch off.

this will reset your TV back to factory defaults.

turn tv back on and you should be prompted to go through the plug and play setup again - go through everything and then all should start working OK (it did for me)

SOURCE: problem with tuning digital channel

I would believe from what you said, you have solved your problem. You will need a UHF antenna to receive the signal. Walmart or Radio Shack has a great amplified antenna that will work for you.

SOURCE: Samsung 40'' LN40C530F1F Setup Help Needed

I would suggest calling your cable service provider. I just purchased the same TV and experienced the same problem/question. I have ATT Uverse and called and spoke with technical support. They said that you need a HDMI cable and the cable settings need to be set to HRC (High Resolution Compatible) or someting like that. The other 2 settings are analog modes! I had mine originally set to STD I just randomly picked this setting and had my TV conected to the cable box useing a coax cable, this is why it looked strange. I hope this helps? I will be picking up a HDMI cable on my way home from work today and will change my cable setting on my Samsung to HRC. If this does not fix the problem I will repost tomorrow, but I am sure this is the solution. Happy viewing!

Have ps3 that was working fine, unhooked it from one tv to another and proceeded with holding the power button 5 seconds til it beeped twice and still have blank screen

hi, if the ps3 was working fine on the other tv and you have not dropped it or anything like that then this would point towards their being a fault with the lead of the connection in the back of the telly.

what you should do is unplug it all again and refit all the leads in the back of the ps3 making sure they are pushed in far enough then plug the lead into the back of the telly making sure you push it in far enough, then switch the telly on and then switch the ps3 on if the telly dont change to the correct channel as soon as the ps3 comes on then you need to get the telly control and put the tv on the correct channel.

now depending on how many inputs the telly has would depend on how many times you press the button on the control, the button you need to press is going to be on of the following its either av, input, source, ext, aux, or a picture of a rectangle with an arrow running from left to right, now once you have found this button make sure your ps3 is on with a game in then press the button on the tv remote then wait couple of seconds it may say something like av1 on the telly if this dont show the ps3 then press it again it should then go to av2 and keep going until you see the game on the ps3 you need to keep going until your telly is on the right input channel.
once you have done this your ps3 should be working again.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

Hi, i have a ps one i want to connect to my tv via the aerial. iv plugged it in and checked the av channels but cant find it, is there anything i need to do?

Hi, right now as your plugging it in via the aerial socket then this means you wont be using any of the input channels or source channels such as av ok.

now what you can try is when its plugged in and switched on go through the channels on the telly using the telly remote try channels you dont use such as 0 6 7 8 9 10 if after trying these you still have no picture then you need to put the telly on a channel you dont use say 0 then make sure ps is switched on with a game in then on telly remote choose menu or setup then you need to use the tv setup function to search the frequency as if you are tuning a channel in so do this till you see the game then store it onto that channel, now when ever you want to play the ps you just plug it in and put it on the channel you tuned in.

or an easier option would be to go to the well known auction site and buy a ps1 scart lead then when you plug this into your telly you just choose av1 or av2 and then you can play it without tuning the channel in so this owuld be the easiest way

let me know if you have any problems

I have a 1980's atari game. How do I set it up?

hi, this round pin with the little pin in the middle this needs to be plugged into the back of your telly it goes into the ariel socket you need to unplug your tv's arial then plug this into where the arial was, now what you need to do is put your telly onto a channel you dont use such as 7 or 0 witch ever one you dont use to watch telly, once you have done this you need to enter the setup mode on your telly to scan for channels so make sure the game is switched on and then start scanning for channels as if you were tuning in the tv channels so do this then you will come across the game so you then save this frequency to this channel.

You can then play the games just remember when you want to play it that you put the telly back onto the channel you tuned in for that game.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

How do i get my funai vcr to record from my freeview box. I can only record through my analogue channels. I have a funai vcr either 31B-750 or 31B-754 (PDC) and the freeview is an Astratc TopD2

hi, how is the free view running through the video?

Option 1(this is the most complicated way if you are using scart lead or the three color leads then skip to option 2)

if you using the normal arial socket ie arial from roof goes into free view then from free view into vid then vid into tell then what you need to do is make sure on the free view that you have a menu screen on the screen either tv guide or something that will stay on their.
Now put the video on a channel you dont use say 6 then you need to use the video remote and then enter the setup mode and then start the scanning process to look for the signal keep going until you get the menu screen that you opened on the free view then store this as channel 6 on the video.
Now when you want to record from the free view you put the video on channel 6 and put the free view on the channel you want to record.

Option 2:
If you free view box is using scart leads and has two scart lead outputs on the back, ie one for the telly and the other for the video, if you have it like this then plug telly scart into telly and video scart into video.

Now in the back of the video you should have scart lead coming from the free view, and maybe one coming from the video into the telly
If this is the case then all you need to do to record off free view is switch the video on the when you choose what channel you want to record instead of choosing 1 to 5 for normal channels you need to select av scroll down the channels past zero if you have not got av button once av is selected you should then see the free view channels try by pressing guide on the free view and put the video on av this should then let you see the free view via video if not dont worry press record for 5 min then rewind and press play it should now play back the free view you was just watching.

Option 3 now if you have it set up any other way just let me know how then i can assist you further ok.

If you have any problems following my instructions then just post me a message back and ill be glad to assist you further ok.

Many thanks for using fixya.com

I have a sega mega drive with all the relevant pieces but i cant tune it into the tv

Hi. is the lead from mega drive a rf socket that goes into the arial socket on the telly and does the lead have a switch on it?

Plug the rf lead from md into areial socket on telly
then put telly on channel you dont use i used 0 or 9 but use any.
then turn mega drive on
then press setup on tv
enter channel settup then you need to go through the procedure of tuning channel in its best doing it manualy its like when you tune a channel in make sure md is on then keep changing the frequency one way or the other could take few minutes then when you get it on the telly save this setting on the channel you want to use ok.

If it dont work then the chances are the lead is damaged this is often the case with these consoles as the are not made that well so if no good then replace if necesarry.

If your unsure on tuning your telly then give me make and model then i can talk you through the process ok

Wiring diagram for sony kdl-23s2010

i can tell you the best way but i need to know what your using ie scart leads things like that also tell me how many scart sockets in telly and in dvd and sky and vcr after you give me this info il tell you what needs pluggging into what
basing it on your telly has 2 scart if not let me know ok
1. dvd to telly via scart lead
2. then sky to vcr via scart doing it this way allows you to record sky using av channel on vcr
3. vcr to telly via scart lead
then if you want your video to record normal telly channels you need to use normal arial leads in this order
1. from arial to vcr then from vcr to telly doin this allows you to record the channels you get through the arial like 1 2 3 4 5 also this way when you choose 1 or 2 or 3 on video it will record that channel allowing you to watch whatever on sky whilst recording normal telly
If your telly only has one scart socket in the back then you need to buy a scart adaptor that converts one scart socket into 2 or even
let me know if you understand what im telling you or if you need further help ok just let me know im going out for 2 hours but will check your reply then so hope you dont mind waiting if you need help ok
