SOURCE: Whirlpool dishwasher won't work at all

Hi,

If your dishwasher doesn't work at all, check these:

Power from the house Is there power getting to the dishwasher? This can be difficult to test, because dishwashers are usually wired directly to an electrical circuit, rather than plugged into the wall. But at least check for a blown fuse or a tripped circuit breaker.

Door switch The door switch is important because, if it's defective, the dishwasher won't work at all. To reach it, you need to remove the control panel cover, or sometimes the interior liner of the door. If it's defective, you need to completely replace it.

Wiring Often the main wiring connection from the house, at the dishwasher, burns and breaks the connection. If that's the problem, the wires must be repaired/replaced as necessary. If that's not the problem, check the wiring to the door switch, the wiring between the door and the lower part of the dishwasher, and the wiring to the timer. Repair any broken, burned, brittle, or defective wiring, using the proper appliance-grade wire and connectors.

Timer or selector switch Although it's uncommon, the timer or the selector switch may be defective. If so, you need to replace the defective part, because neither of these can be repaired.

SOURCE: push start button on control panel - machine does not start

only 2 things can cause this.
1 the control is set to lock out mode. just hold the lock button for 5 seconds and it should go back to normal mode.
or 2 the controls user interface has an internal failure. its the part that has the switches and tells the computer what to do. either way call whirlpool and see if its still covered by their warranty.
of yeah and the 3rd thing is you have no power to unit. make sure the outlet is good by trying something else in the same outlet, like a light or hairdryer.

Nothing works on control panel except control locked sensor light. The buttons were working fine then I went to add more drying time and the buttons do not light up or work.

From the details of your symptom you're indicating a possible intermittent loose connection between the user interface (touch panel) and the machine control board or the voltage supply to machine control board at P1 connector.

Disconnect the power cord from the power source.

  • Disconnect P3 and P4 connectors from the machine control board and then reconnect them.
  • Disconnect P1 connector and then reinstall the P1 connector and then recheck operation.

If the wires are good then you will need to replace the control board on your unit.
Here is a link to the part.

I have had a Haier Dishwaher ESD300 for about 2 years. It suddenly just stopped. None of the buttons will work. I have checked fuses etc. All of that is fine. Wondered what I could do to fix the problem.

My dishwasher had the exact same symptoms. The control panel was faulty. I discovered this by testing the connector with my multimeter, looking for the LED connections. When I wasn't able to find anything, I carefully peeled it off. (See picture.) I expect at least one of the traces underneath the nasty brown line is faulty, causing the control panel to not function. On the control board, I jumpered the first pin to the fifth pin from the bottom of the connector, as viewed with the Haier brand right-side up, and pots & pans started right up.

It looks like I can get a replacement control panel from Sears Parts Direct for $30.

I moved my washer and then moved it back. The status shows control locked. How do I get it back operational

The "Control Lock", this is actually a safety feature that enables the consumer to lock the control panel to prevent small children from manipulating the controls and accidentally starting the appliance. This can usually be reset and does not require a technician.

With the lock on, the control panel is disabled and you cannot use any of the controls, except the button that unlocks it. Using the STOP or CANCEL buttons will not turn the feature off. It can inadvertently be set following a power outage, leaning against the control panel, or pressing and holding the wrong button. This is usually not an indication of a malfunction.
While you were moving the washer, you may have been pushing on the some of the control panel buttons and locked the control panel.

If this is a Whirlpool manufactured appliance (such as Kenmore Elite, Whirlpool Duet or Maytag Epic), the following link explains how to lock/unlock this feature:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3608801-control_panel_lock

These instructions are also printed on the front panel of the appliance and in the owner's manual.

If this does not correct your problem, then you may have a more serious problem than a simple operator control button issue (such as an operator console problem or main control board issue). Please post back and let me know if you need further assistance.

I have Jandy RS4 system with 4-button poolside controls for additional spa control. Inside house control panel stays totally lit up saying ''Rev 6700'', and cannot communicate or control pool operations. ...

Pull the cover off the control panel. You will probably find a button which would be accessible from outside the panel with a paper clip or pencil but is unlabeled. On the board itself by the button, in small letters it should say "reset". Push the button and see what happens.
