The computer see the Lexar as a external storage device.
Just click on My Computer and you will see the Lexar as a E drive or some other drive letter. Double click on this to open the drive. You can create folders on this drive and copy and paste files to this drive or to the folders just like copying and deleting files on the C drive.

Laptop power will turn on, but screen remains completely black

Sounds like a memory problem. Try turning your computer over and finding the access panel that has memory. It usually a small rectangle and may have an icon of memory. Remove the screw (usually only one on Dell's).

You should do this at your kitchen table to avoid static electricity. You will likely have 2 memory sticks in your computer (one may be on top of the other). Spread the clips that holds the memory and remove the memory. Try to keep your fingers off the metal. Remove both sticks (if there are two). Now put them back.

Plug-in your computer. Turn the computer back over, and try to start the computer. If you get the same result, you have some bad memory. The next question is which of the two sticks.

Unplug your computer and remove one of the sticks and try starting again. If it starts, you know that the memory removed was bad. If it does not start, try the other stick of memory and try starting.

If you find the bad stick of memory, all you need to do is get new memory. You can go to one of the memory websites and it will test your machine and determine what memory you need.

Hope that helps.

1GB Memory Stick PRO Duo Memory Card: My sister's boyfriend put my stick into his comput...

Preformat : By Fix-shad0w

#1
Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
#2
Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
#3
Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
#4
In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
#5
Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
#6
Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.

Format Error in Sony Cybershot

i think this problem arises when you fail to regularly format the card ie. take lots of pictures and delete some and repeat the process over and over instead of downloading every session and formatting the card causing coruption. Also if you've bought pro duo memory stick off ebay poss. its a very good forgery (again i've been caught out by this).
