My front load washer wcvh6800f GE has a mildew problem. It is only a year 1/2 old. Is there a special drain in the front that can get clogged if so how do you get to it and how do you unclog it. -Thanks, Mark

The washer is two years old and it stinks if it sits for a day or two - where is the drain door on the older models?

no drain, but if you put a cup of bleach in run for 45-60 min every month you won't have the smell anymore. after washing leave the door 1/4 open this will help keep mildew away.

GE Washer Model WCVH6260HWW, Fabric Softener Won't Dispense/Drain

I took the tray out and placed it to the side. Then I ran a common pipe cleaner through the nozzle that supplies a water spray to the tray. So far, so good.

My GE Front load washer (WBVH6240) has an odor that smells like mildew in it. If the is left closed the odor is really bad. Do you know how to fix this or what is comes from?

run a empty cycle with bleach on whites/ sanitize. clean boot (rubber gasket at door) with bleach or other cleaner inside especially at bottom, make sure 3 holes at bottom are clear.
this may take multiple cycles to rid of odor.
For maintenance, you should wipe excess water from boot after last load, and check lower drain holes. Once a month wipe boot with windex or other. and run cleaner cycle (empty) newer machines have a special clean washer cycle. (6240 doesnt).
Also clean your drain pump filter at bottom front behind access panel.
If boot is really bad , replace.

Mildew in ge front load washer

Try two things: Add several cups bleach to the tub and run it a complete cycle. When not in use, leave the door open so it will air out.

Last few weeks there is a foul odor coming from the washer

How old of a unit? The new high energy effeciency washers are known for their "odors" due to the fact they dont drain out all water and it can mildew inside. Some solutions...leave door ajar after wash cycles , water will evaporate, there is products you can add every so many loads, one product being "affresh" ,,,some other people will run strong bleach load every so many loads it will kill mildew. These washeres have been out for years in Europe and they have same problems, its just inherent with product

GE Washer won't drain or spin

this is something that you can fix even if your not a technical person . first you have to open the washing machine front panel or back panel , second , follow the DRAIN HOSE to where its connected to a little motor, disconnect the DRAIN HOSE , take the LITTLE MOTOR out and clean it out , it could be clogged.
it happen once and find out the person put the BATH RUG SET
to wash , the rug was so old that pieces of a rubber underneath the rugs clogged the drain , so there was no rinse and no spin.
try it , I hope it helps.

GE WASHING MACHINE GE PROFILE

There is a product out there called Affresh. It is a tablet that can be used on all front loaders that do not have a Clean Cycle. It works great. It comes three tables to a bag. You should use all three the first time that you do this. After that, once a month is all that is needed. Two suggestions to help eliminate the smell and mildew. One, keep a wash rag handy and wipe up any water that remains in the door seal. Second, leave the door open for a day so that the washer can air out. This applies to all front loaders, not just GE, that do not have a Clean Cycle. Also, water sometimes stays in between the inner and outer tub. This water can become stagnant and create mildew, mold, and odor problems. I hope this helps!!! -The Appliance Braniac
